Particulate matter temperature sensor

Featured Replies

EML is on and the fault given is particualte matter temperature sensor. Nothing wrong with car’s performance. I’m minded to ignore this emissions mumbo jumbo but then the Eml is permanently on and I might miss a more serious fault.

I’m also told this is an expensive part and the car is well under 4 years old.

Is this a common fault?

After my lengthy problems with infotainment glitches and now my first ever. non routine mechanical problem in two decades, my relationship with Skoda is fast coming to an end after the mk4 junk I’ve endured.

What sort of driving are you doing? What is the code and description? Unfortunately these modern cars with all the electronic stuff can take a while to work out the bugs. A lot of stuff is cured by software updates. Also cats that haven't been to the dealer can miss a lot of these updates and service bulletins.

Does you're driving mostly consist of short journeys and/or at slow speeds?

Modern diesels with a DPF are not suited to that driving pattern, they need regular long journeys at medium engine speeds to burn off the soot in the DPF.

This is not a DPF issue. Light came on soon after a 100mile round trip.

Get the sensor replaced before it causes you serious trouble with the rest of the emissions equipment.
