Featured Replies

Hatch: £38570

Estate: £39775

On the configurator:

Not much scope for avoiding the UK "luxury" car tax then..,

Well it's here, picking it up Tuesday

looks like I am getting mine before christmas, build week 46

  • Very happy with my 72 plate VRs specced with all I wanted(winter pack, rev cam, etc) but it would take a bit to encourage me into the facelift… seeing the standard list price means options will easily

its a big ask isnt it

add a single option to the estate and you are into the luxury tax bracket......

Agreed but you can presumably take the £680 first year VED off those prices which gives some a bit more leeway.

Also metallic seems a no cost option on the configurator at least at the moment.

A worry would be a tiny price during wait time for a factory order taking the price over

Looking at the spec there's standard stuff I could probably do without...adaptive cruise for example.

Anyone know if I bought a five year warranty (offered as an option on a new Skodas) would that form part of the "list price" for 40k considerations?

was trying to find this out for the service plans as well

I would yes is the answer cos everything is designed to screw a motorist!

Just pay of things like that separate when you buy the car

Yep, I think that's what I did last time

So I think it's going to be velvet red, canton and a rear bloody wiper, spare wheel and that's me lot,

This would be my worry, I compromise on options to keep it under 40k and a price rise pushes it over anyway, so I end up missing out on stuff and paying the extra tax anyway

Talking rubbish

Was one of the last orders for the pre-FL, with the options I’ve got I think I’m probably £4-5k better off over the 4 years, which makes me a bit less bitter about not having the FL!

EDIT: Not so much apparently 😞 The Microsuede is standard now, which I wanted, but was going to push me over and be a ~£2400 option with the road tax increase

A brochure with prices and specs dated 14th August 2024 is now available

So is the P11D price the base price for the 40k luxury limit? If so there's a slim bit of breathing space for options or price increases.

I will have to ask the dealer, the additional factory warranty has always been part of the car order. Fair point though I would be tempted to buy a spare wheel as an accessory even though it's twice the price.

I spotted it even cheaper. I found a discounted price of £31,395 on drivethedeal.com. They tell me this is the new model.

Has anyone ever bought through them? I wondered if they can be trusted?

I bought a Volvo from DtD in 2005, was all above board. Very unreliable car, but I can't blame them for that.

DtD price on the VRS apparently includes a £3500 deposit contribution.... presumably from Skoda? If true I would expect CarWow etc to be in the ball park soon.

That seems like an exceptionally good deal if they can make that, and its the new FL version. That calculates to less than their 6.9% headline APR too, so sounds like they must be throwing in some deposit contribution with that too?

Local dealer priced up hyper green vRS estate with sunroof, winter pack, canton and spare wheel.

£4,250 deposit contribution (includes £750 exiting PCP customer contribution) plus £2,000 discount.  OK deal but have asked for wee bit more.

If I am going to pay the luxury car tax may as well get the car how I want it.

Will see what happens.

Some decent deals by the sound of it. I'm booked in for a chat on Monday to weigh up the options. My current PCP finishes in April with a 12k final payment, tempted to stick with it and buy it but will see what they offer.

I'm in a similar circumstance to you @BNB90, PCP ends in May with 11k left and more than likely going to pay it off and keep it. I am tempted by the green and newer exhaust though, as I'm fickle

I think we purchased at a good time but it's always tempting buying a new car! I am leaning towards buying mine so it will have to be a good deal for me to swap to be honest.

My thinking is not quite ready to jump into an EV and with a low annual mileage economy is not a major consideration.  Currently got the sunroof and winter pack in my vRS which are awesome and are frequently used so don't want to be giving this up.  Could hang onto my car for longer but got to treat myself now and again!  Likely be my last ICE car for the next few years.  Just got to presuade Mrs Baracus now, who will help pay for it...
