How to protect against car theft - push start (skoda fabia) ?

Featured Replies

I got newish skoda fabia 2016 estate with push start.
Previously i had 2004 prius so I was not woried about the theft as it was old and in crappy looking state.
But this is new car what i still paying for, so I Would like to protect it.
I park the car well away from the house so I am not woried about using the signal from key to steal it.
But as I was looking for options I saw they can bypass this using OBD once they are in, and make their own key within 5 minutes.
Or using VIN number to get original key from the factory. And to my knowledge I cannot even covert the VIN behind windhsield as it would be illegal...

I saw Ghost 2, as one of possibilities in uk, what would be around 500£

Anything else?

Thank you

Steering lock, parking brake lock, wheel clamp.  Or a hidden cut out switch.

If someone wants a 7 year old Fabia that is parked up they might just pick it up with a crane arm and onto a flat bed to take and part out.

Nobody is going Joy Riding or Ram Raiding in one are they.

Hi, you can fit a OBD port lock if you think the possibility of theft is high enough to warrant it.

Not sure clone key obtained via VIN will get them past the immobiliser, can anyone confirm?

Even if you use the use the keyblade to open the door in an "emergency" the bloody silly (or not if you're not stealing your own car) car alarm will go off as soon as you open the door.

I was on the same lines as Ootohere, a visible deterrent rather that computer stuff would probably be more effective.  Only saying today (for those old enough to know what I mean) having a choke on a car is enough to stop most from stealing it, a sign saying the Tw*tNav is out of action is probably enough now.

I'm from a time when the Škoda badge was enough of a deterrent, no need to even lock the car. 😄  (yet quality dropped when VW first took over, as now(?))

The OBD port crops up on the Mk7 Transit forum where the recommended solution is to relocate the real port out of sight and fit a dummy with wires that don’t connect to anything in its place.

I am thinking about getting one of these 3 immobilizers. Probably Meta BLE42, as that is accepted by insurances and it can lower the price. and I can just hang it on key chain.
Sterling Excel - this is also aproved by car insurances in uk, but is needed to put the tag close to the reader what is hidden - extra security, but I would need to show to car service where it is or when i leave car parked at airport some time...
Meta BLE42 - insurance aproved and no hassle ( i would preffer if it does not use Bluetooth... )
Ghost 2 - this is not yet accepted by all car insurances, and I cannot find list of those who accept it as it using TASSA authorization instead of TATHCHAM, and is more expensive then other 2, and to get wireless tag it is £50 per tag
