Fabia VRS vs Porsche 993TT = Embarrassing

Featured Replies

If the Furby had given it full whack in 1st/2nd it would have just spun it's wheels as the Porsche drove off...

and them drivers were girling the porsches. losers

give me one of them s****y-fandangle fake beetle thinges with 4x4 and i'll show them how to get it going off the line :D

If the Furby had given it full whack in 1st/2nd it would have just spun the earth on it's axis...

Very true and I'm thankful that Furby drivers show so much restraint.

 - I personally worry more about the VW Touraq drivers all driving off in the same direction at the same time, that might actually make an impact :P ;)

Would have been interesting to see a proper launch done with both cars, by someone capable of making the most of the vRS/Porsche respectively, and see how many seconds it would take for the Porsche to disappear from view (I reckon less than 10 seconds :o )

I overtook a 911 C4S a couple of days ago, we were both going as fast as we could.

There was nothing he could do in the end, he just had to watch me drive past.

(I followed him into the petrol station, we both filled up, 38 litres for me, a good few more for him)

That was flat out 1-5th in the fabia - you can hear the traction control working in first

No pikey mod so i was hampered by the heatsoak

The pikey mod wouldnt have been any help on such a short drag race anyway. It would only start making a difference after he'd flown past you.

After the runs in the clips (flat out for about 2miles total) the car definitely felt sluggish. It was over 30degreesC on the day.

I was being tongue-in-cheek... ;)

I doubt that the pikey mod would have done much to help you turn-over the Porsche!

Yeah i realised it was tongue-in cheek but so was the whole idea of a 'race' with the 993tt

What surprised me most was how much performance tailed off after the run though - i know it was 30degrees but i didn't expect the VRS to suffer quite so much.

The difference was quite staggering!

Driving a relatively quick family hatch that can out-drag various 'sporty' motors, you do tend to forget just how fast some other cars are

-albeit often only coming on strong at waaaaay past 70mph....

this gets funnier and funnier

It's quite possible - no mention was made about the actual speed :P - probably both stuck in a slow-moving traffic jam

I presume the clue is at the bottom .... the race was who could fill the car with fuel first. The fabia with the smaller tank was quicker to fill and the 911 CS4 could only watch as he left the station before him :D

If not, he was dreaming :P

Very true - whoops missed that even easier explanation.

I would have been beaten by both though as if you have LPG you tend to fill up, pay for that bit, then derv & pay for that bit. Queue twice :(
