Alarm fault

Featured Replies

Hello all, brand new to the forum. I normally like to contribute a bit more before asking questions but this alarm fault is so frustrating that I desperately need help

Car: MK3 vrs petrol estate

It is currently 0430am and the car alarm has just stopped. It sounds for seemingly no reason whatsoever, unlocking the car doesn't stop it and starting the car doesn't stop it. It has 5 minutes and stops on its own.

The car battery is two years old (sloda replaced) and the alarm siren was replaced by Skoda last year (£400)  which seemed to solve it at the time.

I have also unplugged one of the boot lights as it was intermittent as I read here someone faced the same problem.

The car also doesn't display an open door/boot/bonnet. Opening and closing all of these doesn't stop the alarm either.

I can't see if there is an alarm sensor inside to clean it and the doors don't seem to have any obvious connection to clean.

We have contacted an auto electrician and they have said something about a pin number to read the codes?? Sounds odd to me.

I am determined to resolve this as the car has been amazing for my ownership but I am at my wits end and very disheartened, any help or ideas are very much appreciated.

Sorry, I meant to clarify. When opened they display fine, it's when the alarm is sounding without opening anything it doesn't show any doors open.

I know from some owners the boot would show being open when the alarm was sounding, but it's not doing that. I hope that makes sense

Added clarification for you!

That to me suggests either the interior motion sensor or the tilt sensor is triggering the alarm.

A VCDS scan will show logged details of all commanded alarm activations and what sensors triggered them including volt drop.

It does however sound like these could be self activations from a failing internal battery leaking acids onto the circuit board, yes I know the garage claimed to have replaced the siren unit but being unable to silence the alarm is not normal function.

Thanks JR, it's just been at it again for about 10 minutes, it activated around a minute after locking. We have been using the car all week and locking it and it has been fine.

I totally agree all symptoms link to a failed battery in the alarm siren. I even looked up the part number Skoda replaced and it appears they did it correctly.

Car booked in soon at Skoda and will update this thread.

Have you tried un-ticking the interior monitoring function off within your settings menu? Seemed to work for when a had a couple of random alarm activations for no apparent reason. Mine hasn't gone off again since I did this.

Apologies for hijacking the thread. Phoenixboy I often un-tick the interior monitoring when I leave the dog in the car. I find interior monitoring is reset to active after unlocking the car, can you switch it off permanently?

I don't think you can turn it off permanently, not sure if it can be coded out.

I haven't tried turning it off yet, but will give it a go I think

Or no not another turn off during every ignition cycle job, even worse if you have to turn it off through the screen, at least with the s/s, there's a button. I didn't actually consider that, I'll check mine tomorrow. At least I haven't got lane assist to contend with.
