Probably moving to an Audi A4 (update 21/03/25 - or will it be a Roomster?...)

New genuine stat and temperature sensor ordered from a VW dealer, and a new stat pipe/housing bit from aftermarket/ebay seem to have finally put the cool running fiasco behind me a few weeks back. That was a ballache!

In other good news, I took a punt on the cheapest of 3 MAFs GSF were suggesting for my reg (Hella branded), and it seems to have ended the driveability problems I was having.

Smokeless and smooth now.

Much more enjoyable drive.😎

  • It doesn't. Plenty grunty enough as is, and I doubt the EGR and TB have ever been cleaned out, so only going to get better.   Found out why it was sold just now.  Reviewing paperwork ha

  • As in a pic?   Not much to say about it, appearance-wise. "It's a car, in a boring colour" 😁

  • We both test drove it this evening. All good, so going to take it off his hands in a couple of weeks' time. Needs rear brakes, but I'm happy to sort that myself. Anyone want a Polo?

Update 21/03/25

Audi going very nicely now, with the exception of a rattle that's almost certainly related to the one MOT advisory, front upper arm play, both sides. Nearly got a quote for getting this done, as it's all a bit 'heavy engineering' compared with what I'm used to.

Fruitlessly changed a hydraulic engine mount on Wednesday, just in case it was that. Test drive filled me with joy for about 1 minute after that and then the rattle/clatter was there again, unchanged. 😆

Now there's a likelihood that both my Polo and the A4 will be going, in favour of a Roomster that I'm going to see tomorrow. It's like a blend of the two, in terms of size and shape (and mass). 😁

Petrol, turbo, blue, and something of a fixer-upper; why wouldn't I want that?

Is that the one I saw mentioned on here the other day?

Yep

Good luck and hopfefully we'll see the progress in this topic thumbup

A match made in heaven!

I have always been really really tempted by the Roomster, the packaging would suit me very well, the old school tech exactly what I want, unfortunately the 4WD of my Yeti whilst not something I was seeking I would not now want to give up.

I hope you get it Pete.

Roomster got appropriated by my partner, and I've just sold the Audi to a workmate.

So I've ended up in the hand-me-down 20 year old 209k mile Fabia! 😆

Quite a contrast to the Audi in drive and comfort levels, but someone has to drive it into the ground, and it might as well be me.

...At least until I find a nice Polo, approx 2012-15, 1.2 TSI manual or possibly even DSG if I get brave, in this nice blue colour
