Parking brake non-functional, ACC not available

Featured Replies

Get in the car at lunchtime after driving down this morning, 400km without a hitch. Suddenly car is "no parking brake", then "ACC unavailable". Some testing shows that pulling the switch gives me a flashing handbrake symbol. Each start the same.

Limiter seems to work, but ACC does not. I have 400km to do tonight...

any thoughts on why? Nothing's been done to it recently. I suspect a rear wheel rotation sensor, but am open to other ideas. Went to a dealer and they had no time to assist, and I can read the codes at home, so don't have them yet but will do this evening.

been to the mechanic this morning. Turns out the switch in the car is probably the cause, but there aren't any anywhere... might have to get creative with replacement microswitches at this point!

Many Car Manufacturers use the same parts from the same suppliers, search

online with any numbers on the part you have. photographs help with reconnection

as well as finding the part

it's all integrated into 1. The handbrake, 4x4 mode switches - all 1. For both Karoq and Kodiaq. I've found online for just over €100 with a 10 day delivery time, will see if I can get one through Germany faster...

part ordered through dealer, should be here either late this week or early next. So the car goes in late next week for the fix.

  • 2 weeks later...

switch hasn't helped, apparently... need to do some wiring tracing. At least I have a unit to do it in.

Have you tried putting the rear calipers in the service position and back again using a scan tool in a bid to reset things?

tried, no dice. Will take it to the garage Wednesday for a check of the rear brakes....

What does VCDS say?

FAULT_EPB_SWITCH_FAIL

I've found this twice on the web. Once on a German community from a Superb where the battery was changed. No resolution posted 😞

Another from the VCDS forums where there's a Passat that gave issues when swapping out rear pads.

The switch was already replaced with a new one and it didn't help. A reset / basic setting hasn't helped, either.

This may or may not be related. But i bought an Enyaq on Sunday and thought it had acc in the spec advertised but when i tried to use it i got that message "Not available"

Trying to find out with someone hopefully has a decent vin checker specific to vehicle not model.

In the myskoda app in the car it is there as a purchasable option, could it have been removed with a corrupt software update?

Has it appeared there in your car?

Interesting.

To check the spec of the car, you can go to a dealer and they can search it for you. You can't get it yourself on ErWIN as used to be possible with a VIN search.

I haven't used MySkoda at all with the Kodiaq, it requires purchasing stuff and I don't see any benefits. I know I haven't been working with Internet in the car (and there's no skoda connect on it, either).

The local mechanics have it now, I will doubtless hear what they find the morning. Could just be the rear pads, as there's no wear indicators on those...

The Enyaq required me to download myskoda to my phone to access charging status etc  remotely with my phone, I can set the car to clear the windows and warm the cabin whilst having my breakfast at 6 in the morning when necessary.

Whilst doing it the app asked me to go to the car and scan a Qr code on screen to activate.

After doing this the car started downloading updates to itself. Also now says hello " xxxx" on screen when getting in and "goodbye xxxx" getting out 😂

The shop contained some stuff labled  "£0.00" which when download appeared as "valid until xx/xx/xx " one date was the third anniversary of reg date others ten years.

Other options were free for a month with a fee to keep , ACC was £269 after a month.

Some of the features were cosmetic like extra colours for the interior lighting.

do you get standard cruise anyway? I don't know that I would prefer ACC over standard Cruise... there is a benefit in traffic, but I tend not to see much of that, so the usability is moot.

It does have standard cruise and a limiter. So i wont be bothering with the payment.

I believe though with the acc in an ev it helps optimise regen when in traffic.

Got an update on the Kodiaq: they checked over the switch and can't find anything. The rear brakes also seem ok. So tomorrow the mechanic will be measuring the connections through to the ABS unit in the front. There's 4 of them and it's a direct connection. I am currently assuming there is some form of rodent damage on the insulation, but we will find out tomorrow.

Fixed. Cable had worn insulation at the ABS pump side. €500 later, it's sorted.
