what is wrong with my octavia???

Featured Replies

Can anyone give me some advice?

I have an Octavia 1.6GLXI aged 6 years (2000).

She has always been a very relable car.... until a couple of weeks ago, and she started missbehaving.

she will cut out for not reason and then does not want to start straight away, but will start perfectly after several try's.

A;ong with this she decides to excelerate, well it seems that way, the revs start flying up and you have to switch off the ignition to stop it.

My husband has said he could not hear the fuel pump fireing up when you first start the engine after this problem.

Please, Please, Please can someone help???

Michelle

My 99 MY 1.6 did a similar thing a while back. Turned out to be one of the engine management sensors - didn't find out which one. Just let the dealer fix it. Hasn't reoccured since.

It would be useful to get the car checked for any error codes. A dealer can do this with their diagnostic equipment or one of our members may be able to help with VAG-COM diagnostic software if you live near one with it. Whereabouts in the SE do you live?

I had problems with a Felicia 1.6 being very reluctant to start and idle. The problem was quickly diagnosed as a faulty coolant temperature sensor.

I had a problem with my 1.6 cutting out and not restarting again for a few minutes...turned out to be the "crank position sensor" which, if memory serves me correctly, was about

Hi Michelle

Sorry, this happened quite awhile ago and I can't remember how much it cost.

Michelle:)[/quote']I have posted a request fo help for you here. The nearest members who have advised that they have VAG-COM are in Chatham and near Gatwick, ie neither is particularly close.

When these come in for service and the owner mentions rough running, in addition to the fault code read it pays to clean the throttle body out.

I'm the one who is 'near Gatwick', sadly I do not have VAG-COM at present. Sorry.

Hi Moose

Thanks for replying, do you know of anyone else in the area that may have VAG-COM.
