First Elroq on Autotrader - £47,324 for 85 Sportline with Maxx package

Featured Replies

I can't help thinking someone may have gone too early on this, and it may disappear given I think the official launch is this coming Tuesday 1 October... but this is the first Elroq I've seen on Autotrader

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202409274564691

Quoting £47,324 for an 85 Sportline model in Timiano Green with optional Maxx package and 21 inch wheels, and a charging cable (seems odd that would be optional)

I know there are some extras on there, and without a brochure it's not clear what the Maxx package includes, but £47K doesn't immediately sound like a bargain to me.

I think that might be hokum. I'll be surprised if the Elroq is the same price as an Enyaq....

So I found this listing from a different dealer:
https://listers.co.uk/new/cars/skoda/elroq/210kw_85_sportline_82kwh/106750

Same model without extras at £41,600

And (according to the configurator) the cost on an Enyaq 85 Edition of these extras: Maxx pack + 21 inch Supernova wheels + 32A cable is £6,265.

So if the prices of those extras were the same for Elroqs and Enyaqs, that would be £47,565 for the one on Autotrader.

So that price unfortunately might be right.

No ones buying one at that price.

But people will lease ones, and Skoda UK / VW UK need to get as many as they can get into the country first registered in 2024.  So dealers are getting out cheap adverts, getting social media coverage like here now.  Cars will be in the showroom and in the dealers fleet. Some out and about in the brightest colours.  Just the same old Kidology as usual with new models.   This year desperate manufacturers need the 22% EV,s first registered.

As to BUYing and owning a first edition of a new EV while the Manufacturers are still not getting fixed models that are now going to 2nd generations, that is a very brave, or stupid move surely.

So much for being an affordable, smaller alternative to the Enyaq, even with the extras removed that’s still around £40k… that’s pure insanity just for a Karoq with a big battery under the floor.

Worth saying that the prices I found were for the Sportline trim which I guess might even be the top trim at launch.

Presumably the more basic ones will be cheaper, but it will be interesting to see how much cheaper a more basic one with a big battery is.

So, after a bit more searching I found a price list on the Listers website here:

https://listers.co.uk/new/cars/skoda/elroq?f=search:true

Looks like:

  • Starting price is £31,500, for a 50 SE, with only 232 miles of range
  • Next up is £33,350 for a 60 SE L with 260 miles of range
  • If Listers are correct they are the only SE and SE L models, which seems odd, but I find Skoda's model naming so unfathomable at times that I'm not saying Listers made a mistake...
  • 60 Edition is £34,450
  • 60 Sportline is £37,400
  • 85 Edition is £38,650 - this is the starting price if you want over 300 miles of range (360 quoted)
  • 85 Sportline is £41,600
  • Plus packs are £1,950 - only available on Edition so I assume the Sportline trim includes whatever is in there
  • Advanced packs are £4,150 on Edition and £2,250 on Sportline - the difference being £1,900
  • Maxx packs are £5,100 on Edition and £3,200 on Sportline - difference as above.

So those Sportline prices above don't tell the whole story. There are cheaper Elroq prices to be had, although the bigger battery models with a decent range still seem pricey to me.

With extras the Listers prices look a few hundred cheaper than the Autotrader one, but not vastly different.

I think I’ll wait to see what Škoda officially come out with in a few days, the information on Listers could definitely be incorrect in some areas, even the alloys on the base model are listed as Proteus and there’s no way they’d put 19” wheels on a base spec car the same size as the Karoq which comes with just 17” at the lowest spec.

Officially it is being launched Tuesday evening 1st October

Skoda is sort of out of line with other manufacturers that this Autumn are going small (and in UK about a third of cars are supermini size), and aging because manufacturers ignored the third over last few years, and upsized their models.

If want to pay under £25k (or something that fits tight parking spaces) rather than a medium-large expensive Elroq is what you want, then try one of these (some coming soon) Alfa Romeo Junior, Citroen e-C3, Cupra Raval, BYD Dolphin, Fiat Grande Panda, Hyundai Inster, Leapmotor T03, MG2, Renault 5, Volkswagen ID2 etc.

I didn't think it was actully going to land here until March 25?

Expect What Car / Autocar to have it as Car of the Year 2024 then even if they have only driven Left Hand Drive models in a good weather location while being wined and dined.

Looks like April /May now for UK deliveries. I ordered  85 edition 9th December..if order proceeds on time my Elroq should arrive early to mid April.

High VED from 2nd year for 5 years with Luxury tax.  Unless leased and in with the monthly s.  Still a costly difference right there.
