Got bored last night, took the back seats out of my car & rear parcel shelf and went for a spin.

My god, the difference is incredible. It feels so much lighter and more chuckable.

Put them back in when I got back and went to the shops for some Milk and it felt very slow in comparison.

By taking the rear seats, spare wheel and tool kit out, you save at least 75 kg's

It does make a hell of a difference, and its noisier too. Therefore, when you put it all back in again, it feels much slower due to the lack of noise as well as the extra weight.

Being serious for a moment, every 5kg saved is the equivalent of a 1bhp increase if it is sprung weight, if it's unsprung it's 2.5kg per bhp

So, on that basis, if you had a set of OZ ultraleggera's (4.7 kgs I think) then compared to the standard wheels (must be about 10- say 9.7kgs) you would have equivalent to an 8 bhp increase, using the same idea, by taking out the spare wheel and back seats, you'd be looking at 15 bhp on top of that again:eek: Coool! p.s Where are those spanners!!)

4.5 stone, just shy of 30kgs, which seems excessive, but thats the figure i got on some bathroom scales.

I believe a certain Red Baron put his Octy vRS on quite a substantial diet and it made a massive difference

There isn't one so far as the UK is concerned. If you have a spare wheel it must be road legal. You're not obliged to carry one however.
