SD card 2 problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

This is my first post on the forum and I'm hoping someone might be able to assist me . I'm currently transferring all of my CDs to SD card so I can play them in my Octavia as it doesn't have a CD player, but I have an album naming and ordering problem that i just can't fathom. I've transferred everything to the cards without a problem and when I view the cards on the laptop they are in the correct order (EG by Artist/band name) and the group/album name is correct, but when I put the cards into the SD 2 slot and view them in media on the stereo, the albums are in a random order with some having different names. Any ideas please?

Are there SD card slots on a Mk4? I've not seen them.

They are in the glove box. One is for the satellite navigation and the other for media.

Not in the mk4 they're not. Is yours a mk3?

It's a 2020, so I assumed it's a mk4. Anyway, it has x2 sd slots in the glovebox.

Is it possible the media system is re-sorting into alphabetical order?

I will have a dig and see if there are settings for filing.

No slots in mine, you've got a MK3.

Quite possibly, but it's also changing the album name.

For the folders you created on the card did you use the Artist name or the album name.

Maybe the meta data for the track differs from what you see in your computer music application. Happens in windows media player on my computer.

Initially I cut and pasted the artist folder from my music and then I tried copying all the individual albums from within the folder. That didn't seem to make any difference. So for example I will transfer a double cd album from Windows media player or my music onto the card and viewing the sd card on the laptop the album side 1 and 2 have the same name apart from disc 1 and 2, but when the card is viewed on the car stereo disc 1 will be called something else. I hope that makes sense.

You say it is a 2020 but why have you got 2021 in your profile ?

Very confusing.
