Firewall grommets

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've had a search of this forum and the technical guides (and Google) but I can't find a version for the Mk4 Octavia (RH drive).  I hoped the Mk3 would work, and it does exactly match, however there's some additional plastic/wiring in the way.
I've removed the battery and a few clips/cables to get a look at the firewall. I can't even see a grommet through there though.

I've tried going in from the other end - I've completely removed the glovebox and the surround + the amp and can't see any grommets there either.

I could take it to an auto electric place but I'd be looking at a £150 bill for fitting a cable for a £100 piece of kit - fitting an underseat sub.

Anyone had any luck with theirs?

Thanks

I know this might be a bit late, but if you are putting the amp under the passenger seat, then drop the cable down behind the battery, and then along the chassis leg, and under the footwell there are plastic plugs, put the cable through one of them and then seal up with silicone

Thanks - It's not late, but I've given up taking battery out and all that as I need to drive the car daily.  I'll have a look underneath and see if it's doable.
Pity it isn't as easy as it was in cars from 2000+

Facing the same thing myself - came here to post this. Want to power a Match amplifier. The under chassis way sounds interesting - how would you recommend securing it long term? Felt tape seems out of the question - big cable ties?

I see a L shaped grommet thing but can’t get the cover off. I need to have a better scan through the service manual.

As you say tape is not a option, but in the past I needed to get a thick cable (not a Skoda) front to back (boot) and noticed there was fuel and brake lines running down that side so not big cable ties but a number of smaller ones did the job, and once in place nothing moves so no problems.

so went from the battery into a fuse (correctly rated) and then down the chassis.

In fact I have done this on a number of vehicles  with out issues

Is there an under tray that need removing on the NX?
