Remapping the 1.6 TDI (CAYC) Manual

Featured Replies

I’m considering remapping my 1.6 TDI (CAYC) in my Skoda Octavia, which already has an EGR and DPF delete. I’ve heard people say the clutch might wear out quickly and other components could fail, but I’m not entirely convinced that’s always the case. Has anyone with a remapped 1.6 TDI experienced any serious issues after the remap? I’m not looking to push it to the max—just aiming for around 130 hp and 290 Nm at most. Any advice or experiences would be really helpful!

Mine was remapped when I had the egr and dpf delete I was told to 150 hp, did make a big difference that was 10 years ago I have not had any problems, apart from when the egr was deleted they closed the egr electronically and did not fit a blanking plate at the throttle body, after about 5 years the egr opened up and caused all sorts of problems.

What about the clutch?

When I had it done the car was 5 years old with just over  nine thousand miles, now the car has eighty five thousand miles with still the original clutch.
