Front shockers on the sports suspension

Featured Replies

I have sports suspension and I have noticed something over the last few weeks.

The front shock absorbers are making a slight hissing noise on a very regular basis, if there is any slight bump in the road there will be a slight "psh" from the front of the car, a very bumpy road makes the noise near constant.

I've never heard it on any other car i've had.

The obvious bit coming up:

Is this normal?

Is it peculiar to the sports suspension only?

Someone with a vRS started a thread here with a similar problem but I assume the vRs has different suspension to the sports/pegasus pack.

Have you fitted a dump valve to the front suspension;)

Im not an expert but I would say its normal. Ive had seven new cars in the last four years and most of them made the same noise, mostly on speed bumps.

FWIW My MK I vRS suspension always hissed.

Mine seems to do it the first time you hit a ramp after its been sitting for a while. Not sure if its normal though.

Normal

I get a similar noise with the standard suspension

Did somebody sell you a citroen C5/Xantia/BX/DS with a skoda badge on it?

Mixed comments there :P

I appreciate the speed bump comment and every car I have driven has done that.

But my point is it hisses over any slight undulation in the road and if the road is not super smooth it's nearly constant.

And no, someone didnt sell me a Citroen with a Skoda badge on it as the car hasn't fallen to pieces yet! :haha:

My New VRS does that as well. A bit annoying with the windows open but normal I hope.

If another is doing it then i'll assume it's normal, you can hear it the most when the passenger window is down.
