12V socket constant live

Featured Replies

Hey

just wondering if anyone can help. I’ve got a 2023 Skoda KAROQ Sportline…. I’ve been needing to use my cigarette/12v port a lot recently but noticed that it’s always on… even after locking and leaving the vehicle for hours on end

the problem is this just drains my battery and is a bit annoying having to always unplug and plug things back in… just wondering if there’s a way to make it so that this port only works when the ignition is on?

I did see online someone said to move the fuse down one so it’s not inline with the others but this just made a click noise when the ignition was turned on/off and the ports then just didn’t work…. I called Skoda and they said they’ve never been asked and have no idea

anyone know how to make them live with only ignition on?

THANKS ! :)

I looked into this, because I wanted a switched supply for my sat-nav and phone charger, and I hate wires hanging everywhere.

There is no simple solution to convert the existing sockets that I could find.

I ended up installing a separate socket, wiring it using a piggy back fuse directly into the fuse box behind the glove box. I mounted it inside the dash top cubby, so completely hidden. It's a fair amount of work - you have to remove the glove box and the dash top cubby to run the cabling.

I thought it was worth it since I plan on keeping the car long term.

Ah really,, yeah I’m imagining it’s looking to be a pain… I only needed something sort of temporary as I’ve not got the car long term…. I think the usb c ports are only on with the ignition so I’ve just ordered a usb c to normal usb adapter to run a few things 😕 don’t think I can deal with always remembering to unplug everything lol
