Going from 1.9TDi to 1.8 Tsi on a 2009 Octavia

Featured Replies

I have been looking at problems relating to the 1.8TSI in lots of vw/Audi but in particular to me a 1.8 Tsi Octavia only done 65k miles on 2009 plate . Are these as bad as the things i am reading re Oil consumption i even heard half a litre for 100 miles thats scandalous how are these engines ever allowed if that figure is even loosely true .On top of that cam tensioner problems and coil pack problems .Think i pretty much decided to avoid this engine unless some can tell me i am misunderstanding

How it is now 15 years / 65,000 miles after being built is all that matters.

Is there any record of work done, or done in the recent year or 2?

Skoda / VW,s has said May use as much as is 0.5 litres in 1,000 km (621 miles) for every engine for decades, 3,4,5,6,8,10,12 Cylinder Petrol or Diesel.

half a litre in 100 miles that you red about is Gubbed Engines, not as they were engineered to expect them being lemons. or some being lemons.

If the car you are looking at is not using oil because it does not from new or being rebuilt or replaced then you are winning.

The 1.8 - 2.0 TSI horror stories are in a pinned thread at the top of the Mk2 Octavia section.
