High beam assist & Traffic sign recognition

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I’m looking for some reviews from anyone that has High beam assist & Traffic sign recognition and your thoughts how it performs on the Skoda Karoq?

Also, if it was retrofitted does it perform exactly the same as if it’s factory fitted?

Not got high beam assist on the Karoq but it’s fitted to my Superb, clever, but I dread to think what it’d cost if any component failed…….…

……..Traffic sign recognition is on both but it’s a bit limited, that is, only sees speed limit signage.

High beam assist on my Sportline works amazingly well, the way it lights up the road and not the oncoming traffic or traffic ahead is great. Not had anyone flashing me to turn off the high beam.

first time I used it was on the wife’s new corsa she had temporarily which had both high beam assist and traffic recognition. Both very handy features. Just waying up if it’s worth the money to add it to my Karoq

what year is your sport line? I have a 20 reg sportline and tempted to retrofit it as  high beam assist and TSR are features I really like

@cjp

2023

Just to clarify, high beam assist and matrix led are two different things -  I think  @don_kiddik means he has Matrix Led's ??

Yes sorry, I have the  Matrix LED system.

I have a 2023 Sportline - it has the Mattix lights which are excellent, lighting up the verge on the nest side, they have a very sharp horizontal cutoff which covers the full width of the road. They seem to illuminate road signs on gantries really well. High beam assist I have on all the while and so far no annoyed oncoming traffic. So much more light.

TSR can be retrofitted, cost around £180, BUT only if the vehicle has the QK1 camera and doesn’t require an Authorisation Code from Skoda to unlock the coding. My 2023 build Sportline required the unlock code which Skoda don’t release, so couldn’t get it retro fitted.  Not sure exactly of the year, possibly 21/22 and earlier Karoqs don’t need the unlock code.
@cjp suggest you contact someone like Hazzydayz who I used. They have a brilliant techie who really knows his stuff.

Added last line

The only traffic full beam assist annoys is big trucks approaching a crest - the driver, sat up high, sees me before the car sees him - that is the wizardry doesn’t see him until his lights are picked up - only happened a few times though.

That said I do find it (HBA) impossible to switch off without first switching full beam ‘on’ to switch it off again - a bit protracted and a faff.

Am I missing something obvious?

That’s for the info. I’ve been advised my sport line 2020 doesn’t have the camera in the windscreen so it would be a replacement windscreen with the camera fitted to have TSR and HBA retrofitted. I checked out Hazzydayz page but they’re quite a distance for me I’m based Cheshire. Found someone closer to me called East Yorkshire retrofits

I can’t help but think that what you’d like to do / propose will be frighteningly expensive?

I was looking at my digital certificate on the ŠKODA app and it specifies automatic high beam lights. Is this different to high beam assist?

Yeah I’ve been quoted about £1200 for the work. That includes replacement windscreen and high beam assist, TSR and lane assist

I'm open to correction, but I believe it's the same thing.

I would agree - looks as if you've got the option cjp and didn't know it - perhaps it's switched 'off' in the menu?

I like how you're able to get a list of features on the certificate - mine shows nothing at all.

Skoda do like to muddy the waters - I see it's now called 'Dynamic Headlight Control'....!

Edit; Perhaps not - seems that Automatic high beam switches the HB off when it detects oncoming lights & the Adaptive lights appears to mean the lights have some cornering trick whereas High Beam Assist bends the HB light throw to avoid dazzling other?
