Central locking and boot issue

Self tappers should be fine on the panel.

Yeah the pic is of the tailgate harness repair. Fingers crossed the boot issue is fixed with the door actuator - turning the lock now locks both front doors and when locked, the boot wont open. When unlocked the boot is opening!

Next is working out why the rear doors do not lock or unlock. Then the remote locking would be nice to get working. Can't find much info on either to be honest. Probably start by using a standard ODB2 scanner then try vagcom again.

Will tek screws with a hex head protrude too far?

I don't think so.

Older versions of the car used normal hexagon-head bolts instead of rivets, so there's space above there. Unfortunately, the captive nuts the bolts went into aren't there on facelift cars.

Whatever screws you use musn't go so far in that they interfere with the glass, for the ones along top of panel.

Thank you. I'm going for the shortest I can find which is 19mm including the head and washer.

Could the rear doors not locking be down to the rear door actuators too?
