Flat battery lock out problem

Featured Replies

Left camera plugged into cig lighter socket - forgetting that it does not auto disconnect.

Battery flat - used key to open driver door.

But bonnet release won't unless passenger door open ! !

If you're careful you can pull out the handle to clear the speaker.

Hi - I tried as hard as I dared pulling away as well as back - not enough!.

You have to pull the handle out into the car as well as pulling it towards the rear, it's a delicate balance between opening the bonnet and breaking the handle.

if you're inside, feeding it 12v via the lighter socket should give you enough to unlock the doors.

Yes....its a flaw in right hand drive Octavia's....

1) Unlock the car manually using the driver side door key lock.

2) Car alarm goes off.

3) Plug in a 12v battery pack into the battery lighter.

4) Switch on ignition, but don't start.

5) Unlock the car using the unlock button in the centre console.

6) Open passenger door and bonnet and replace battery as appropriate.

HI, Thanks for all response / support. Yep opened driver door by key, plugged charger into socket, came back later and remote was working so to open passenger side. Agreed the handle is dodgy to give enough force to miss speaker etc. Is it by design or default I wonder !. Worrying that passenger door can only be opened from inside when 12V OK ! ! so if crash disconnects battery then trapped.

The deadlocks only trigger when the car has been locked externally via the remote, all interior handles stay mechanically operational when the car is driving (with the exception of rear child locks). So a total loss of electronics wouldn't render the occupants trapped.

All electronic locks pop open when the crash signal is deployed anyway, so hopefully they'll pop in time.
