KWP2000 / UDS Protocol

Featured Replies

Might have posted this in the wrong zone?

Regarding using obdeleven to log the change in battery-

"Here’s where the steps get different for VAG vehicles with the KWP2000 protocol and VAG models with the UDS protocol."

Does anyone have a list of modules / models that use which protocol?

On a 2015 Yeti 1.2 petrol would I be using KWP2000 or UDS?

TIA

Most likely a mix of both, some modules using UDS and some KWP2000.

Both my 2015 and 2016 Octavias had/have a mix of protocols.

It's not something you really need to worry about since OBDeleven and VCDS handle both protocols without any user intervention.

Thanks I'm learning on my feet atm, first car I've had with this technology.

It used to bee so simple, take out battery, put new one in and drive off 🤣

VW made this simple task more complicated than needed and then didn't even bother follow procedure at factory.  By what other OBDEleven users have posted you just need to get to the page and carefully do the data entry (type the stuff in).  The important points are to get the battery type correct EFB/AGM (EFB+) (VW call AGM "Fleece") then carefully put in the new Ah of the new battery, battery serial number is of no importance other than it being at least one digit different.  Below is the one done for the battery change on my wife's car. Good luck. -
