Car has reset.

Featured Replies

Noticed this morning whilst defrosting the car that the dash had reset to a different layout to the one I’d chosen.

Also the locks have returned to only open drivers door when I had changed to open all.

haven’t looked to see what else has changed but it’s a bit odd.

Anyone else had this happen? Is it going to happen every time we get a frost?

Some of my settings, including all the custom light settings made via VCDS got reverted back to stock yesterday, coincidentally on the 1st of January. I no longer had Scandinavian DRL, nor custom cornering light settings, nor DRL only on Auto.

I think it's something to with the 1st of January, I don't think this would happen every time with frost.

I think that is quite likely.  If so, software developers show once again they are unable to foresee and eliminate bugs caused by a change of date.

That has been a known problem for over 35 years and due to the UNIX rollover in 2038 I would be very surprised if it was a date problem in a car made in the last 15 years.

Date handling failure at the OS level is not likely. But any software developer can still make a mess of date handling. I have seen many examples in 20 years as a software author.

It depends on the sort of software... I have seen very good code and some appalling stuff.

Sadly, standards in automotive infotainment software are very poor and not improving much.

At least it is better in the ECU and control systems. Though some design choices leave you wondering what they were thinking.
