Gearbox fault warning

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I'm in Australia and have owned a 2019 Skoda Kodiaq Sportline from new. Absolutely love it!

I purchased the 5-year service package and have/had the 5-year warranty.

I was just researching the "Gearbox Fault" warning that came on yesterday and came across this forum... So, thank you to you all for your input.

It looks like this is a known issue. I am seriously worried about what will happen now the car is just out of warranty.

I rang the Skoda dealership and they said don't drive it and get it towed to the dealership, very sad to see it getting loaded onto the flat-bed truck this morning.

My questions to you all are:

What will happen next as the service guy said it most likely is an issue with the gearbox mechatronic control and may need to come from Europe?

Will I be covered under warranty as I am only outside the period by 6 months?

I have arranged a roadside assist loan car, but who will pay for this in the end?

Please understand I really love the car, so much so, I convinced my wife to buy a Kamiq Monte Carlo from the same dealership. Maybe this may aid with my claim???

Any thoughts on this from any of you would be greatly appreciated, particularly to support the battle I fear I'm about to enter.

Regards,

Steve.

Welcome.

There is a Lemon law in Australia is there not.

Known issues, Fundamental design, manufacturing, material hardware or software issues and it is VW Group / Skoda that know.  DQ381,s.

The growing number of failures is unbelievable.

You might need to use the law in Australia.   Or maybe they do the right thing.

In Europe VW Group appear to not be concerned about an consumers, laws or reputation.

Thanks for the add and feedback!

Let's hope it doesn't come to that (Getting legal).

I spoke with the dealership and they said they don't foresee a problem with the warranty claim even though it is 6 months out of the 5 year warranty period as I purchased and serviced it there.

I was wondering what happens in two weeks' time when the courtesy vehicle from Europcar car rental runs out, do they extend it or do I get a loan car from the dealership?

I was advised if the Mechatronics are at fault, an individually characterised unit will have to come out of Europe and could take 5-6 weeks.

I wait anxiously....
