Thinking of changing, these are the things I love and will miss about the Superb...

Why are you considering an EV when everything is fine with your car?

For me there isn’t any benefit to go EV, especially now EV’s will be paying hundreds in tax, you’d think the government would have kept it free but Labour hate us “rich” people who own cars so hardly surprised

It will undoubtedly be a hard act to follow.

I am hoping my Superb will see me through to mobility scooter stage 🤞

I went from one extreme to another swapping my lovely little Yeti (no space even with the seats removed) for the Superb to enable me to take my frail, elderly Mother and Stepdad on holiday and to accommodate luggage for 3 and all necessary equipment (wheelchair, rollator, mobility scooter, travel commode).  “Superb” car 😬

I agree with all the points above....but there will be cars available for some years ahead still!

As MASH13 above, I also hope this one will be able to 'ferry' myself & family until the time I can still drive but no longer need neither large space/long trip capability, and then downsize to a nice little open top, finally ... ☺️

The fact that you will never run out of space, I've had a full-size bath tub in the car, in fact I can't think of anything that I haven't been able to fit it.

I've been thinking about creating a topic to narrate epic tales of large/awkward loads carried by our "superb" vehicles.

This must be in it!

On our annual journeys from the UK to Lithuania to visit SWMBO's family and friends, we have taken a folding bed for SWMBO to stay with her father when she visits him alone, a computer chair for her father and a 6' Christmas tree for her nephew.  Not all together, of course, but they were in addition to our luggage for 3 weeks away and a cold box in the boot plugged into the socket.  There's not many cars that would swallow so much without any problems.

My car is coming up to 10 years old. I'm also a big fan of a nice quiet, refined ride and even though my petrol superb is very smooth the few EV's I've driven are in a different league.  Effortless instant torque is also very appealing. We have solar panels so daily running costs will be a lot lower. Kids are also growing up and I am doing mostly short journeys and no longer have need for such a big car, no I know at times that will be greatly missed.

Very honest summary, then yes, perhaps you might be coming towards the end of its useful journey with you.

I know we can get passionate, but there is nothing worse than to cling to something "just because" and fail to reason there are other ways to do things out there. After all, is just a car ....

I've spent many an year troubling myself chasing ways to prolong the inevitable, car-wise. Wasted money, wasted time...

EV running costs might well be cheaper but your 10 year old superb still has some value in it

a 10 year old EV likely to be worth £0000 because the batteries are done and cost 70% of the cars cost to replace, so scrap yard time  😭

Yes, you really want to go into EV ownership with your eyes open. The market is a total mess at the moment and consumer confidence is low.  The upside of this is they're finally becoming more affordable.  As you say though any technology today could be totally redundant in 10 years time.  Having said that some of the first ifEV's like a leaf still have a value despite being old and the batteries degraded.
