I meant compared with the previous brochure/pricelist dated 18.10.24  - SEL had all of the above on the 18.10.24 one when the Edition variants were announced

I wonder if it would be possible NOT to have these features? If any of these were an extra, I would not select them.

If you can find a dealers in stock non edition variant that is still possible

ACC I don't want.
Electric boot not fussed (wouldn't have said no but wouldn't have paid for one).

What is the difference between the Amunson and Columbus other than scree size?

Screen size, the Columbus is larger. That would be ok. But I don’t like gesture control. I’m old fashioned enough to want physical buttons and dials. Safer for one thing.

I am happy with Amunson for screen size.  It also has some gesture control that can be a pain. When I remember, I am going to turn it off. .  It has two physical buttons, the rest are the touch type.

I thought the Columbus system had more speakers. In the back? Though, as 90% of the time it is just two of us I think they would be superfluous.

You have to have Canton sound system to get the separate amplifier, uprated speakers in the doors , extra speaker in the dash and subwoofer in the boot. (10 speaker system and 615W)

Standard Amundsen and Columbus has 8 speakers (Woofer and tweeter in each door)

If you think that's excessive my old Jag had 17 Bowers and Wilkins speakers and 1200W of amplification with Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 Surround Sound. Newer versions had 21speakers

Yes, the Canton sound system is excessive for me. Never mind the Jag set up!!!
I am happy with the Amundsen set up in my 2023mfr Karoq SE L. as I don't often have music on in the car anyway.

Re 2025 spec I don't want ACC, electric boot might have been nice if a freebie, but otherwise not.
I bought an ex main dealer Demo 2024 reg SE L in November with 3K5 on the clock with various free bits they left in.

Still very happy with it.

For me the biggest downside with the later 24/25 SEL's is the loss of Varioflex seating and the addition of speed monitoring.

The varioflex seats were in it. Also mud flaps, 233GW dash cam hard-wired in and for some reason the table holders on the back of the front seats and 4, not 2, boot hooks.
What speed monitoring?

For later 24 cars and 25 they had to comply with legislation so automatic speed recognition and warning is always on by default. Varioflex became an option but full virtual cockpit became standard.

OK... mine is a late 2023mfr. (Registered on a 24 plate)  So I don't have the auto speed recognition. Fortunately.
Looks like I got what I wanted with nothing I didn't want. 🙂

Above is correct re speed monitoring, but that applies to all cars not just the Karoq SEL

I honestly thought I would have used the varioflex seating more than I have. In fact, come to think of it, I have never had the seats out of this car and it will be celebrating its third birthday in April.

I did have better use out the varioflex  seats in my previous 2018 Karoq, especially in Covid times when I took them all out and the car become a small van for deliveries!

Like you, I can do without the speed monitoring thank you very much.😄

I expect that is the case for most of us, or we would have bought an estate car or a van.  However, like insurance, it is there when you need it.  In my case I didn't have to pay extra for them and I will have times when they will be very useful.
Helping children (and my mother) move.  Also, we do video work and sometimes, but not often, need to put in multiple cameras and lights. The stands are 2 metres

You only need to remove one or more of the seats half a dozen times for them to pay for themselves in cost and certainly in convenience. It is a pain going to hire a van.

Definitely agree. They were standard to the SE L spec I wanted. And I always thought it would give the car Varioflexability if needed. And as I mentioned, back along I was doing deliveries 5 days a week in early Covid times. Boy was I pleased I had those seats then!

My mother is 95. I may need to ahhh... move her one day? 😂 Dont get me wrong, shes lovely and has a GSOH.

I took out the 5 year warranty so I will keep this Karoq as it does what I want it to and has exactly the kit I need. Glad I specced the heated windscreen. No filament wires so its especially good.

Spooky, my mother is also 95 and is thinking of moving from her flat, where she looks after herself, to a home of some sort where she does not have to cook. So the furniture isn't moving, just her other positions.

She also has a GSOH.  They tend to at that age.

I think I got the best Karoq for me.

Didn't want the ACC or road sigh recognition etc

Might have liked the "Škoda" front door lights and red lights, but I can retro fit them. Likewise, the 2nd rear fog light.  (there are threads on here for those things)
I looked at front LED fog lights, but it isn't worth the hassle.

Those are minor points and all fixable if I can be bothered.

I have noted that cars improve until their last version when they throw everything at them and over do it. I believe the 2025 version of the Karoq will probably be the last one, as a 10-year life span for a modern car is about right, They tend to design new cars in 5-year cycles and the Electric and Hydrogen stuff has rather increased the change rate. Though the Karoq might go from petrol to hydrogen, skipping electric.   Unless they bring out a new model completely.

On the varioflex subject.

I don't use them often but having had Four Yeti's previously I just like having that flexibility.

I think the Columbus also gives warning of traffic approaching behind from the side, at least that's what available pictures have shown.

I think that comes with the advanced driver assist package, not the Columbus. You can get it on the Amundsen AFAIK.

@chills No, you don't need the advanced driver assist package to have this option. I picked up my Sportline Edition today, the reverse camera  definitely displays the same symbols as my Superb, including reverse side traffic warning The only extras I wanted were,  my spare wheel kit from my 23_reg Sportline (good job as I got a low tyre pressure warning 2 miles from home ! ) and new OEM thick rubber mats.
