Car shut off 2 times while driving + flickering headlights.

Featured Replies

So I put in a new alternator but the issue was something with power assisted steering.

When I pull out the no.7 fuse the issue stops but obviously there's no power steering. When I checked the oil level it was literally empty 😕

I'll be trying to clean out the sensors tomorrow but could the pump just be gone?

Thanks

Probably leaking into the dust covers on the tie-rods.

I'm not really knowledgeable but I suspect the issue is something with the power steering.

When the wheel is turned full left or full right the flickering stop presumably because the pump stops working on full turns.

Thanks

Sorry I misunderstood, I suppose it's leaking there yes but is the pump gone in your opinion?

Difficult to know if the pump has problem until it has some fluid to pump.

I put in fluid, the flickering persist.

I'll be cleaning the sensors tomorrow. The problem is that a new pump is about 350€ and that's pretty much half the price of the car 😅. I just passed MOT so I'll be driving for at least a year more.

Could it cause any other problems?

Thanks

Which engine in this car?

Does the battery light come on with ignition/contact?

It's 1.4 MPI, the battery light comes on contact and turns off when the engine starts.
