Carrying dogs in the hatchback?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a Superb Estate (the quick one) but can't find what I want for love nor money so I've started thinking about maybe getting the Hatch.. There's loads more of those around so way more choice. BUT.. will I get the dogs in? They're not huge.. one spaniel, the other a border terrier. I mean they've ridden perfectly happily in the back of my wife's previous car, a Hyundai i30 hatch, and the Superb hatch boot is way bigger. It's just the way it slopes off that has me worried. They tend to sit facing the rear window watching the world pass by.

Anyone else got dogs and a hatch.. how do you find it? Or more to the point, how do the dogs find it?

3 Border Collies in a hatch weren't a problem. Naturally, their curiosity does leave it's reminders, snurge marks on the window, but that's easily cleaned off.

Remember though that law now requires dogs to be restrained when in a car, so look out for a dog guard. They're easy to fit, just behind the rear seats, secured on the u-clamps for the seat backs, the seat presses it back. Makes it easy to remove if necessary. The parcel shelf can either be put on the back seat, or stored away in your garage long term.
