KESSY Problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. Until yesterday, I was able to open the car doors by placing my hand on the handle. However, it suddenly decided not to work anymore. I did not do anything out of the ordinary. Went to a shopping mall, came back to the car and it was not working.
I thought it would be a temporary glitch so I waited until this morning to try again, but no luck. I tried turning the KESSY off and on, but it did not work. I'm able to lock the doors by placing my finger outside the handles. Although I normally don't use it, I tried the "open the doors when approached" option and it worked. It also locks the car when I move away (but this is also unreliable since I got the car. It maybe works %60 of the time).

I haven't called the dealer yet in case there is something I can do to fix. Anyone had the same problem before?

I've had some issues as mentioned here as well: Combi 2.0TSI L&K Webasto(engine/interior heating My issues have appeared couple of times and only when its really damp and foggy (or once with wet snow). I have mentioned it also to dealer but they did not find any issues and couldn't reproduce the situation. Dealer just asked to film the issue, if possible. I've got one episode filmed but there have been more.

Yes, that's exactly the same behaviour. But it first happened in a parking garage where there's no snow, fog or cold weather. Also I'm still having the issue so I believe if I take it to the dealer maybe they can find out what's wrong.
I'm beginning to question Skoda's quality control...

For me if i take some microfibre cloth and clean the handle out and inside helps.

simple as that last time today- snow inside i took microfibre cleaned it and again it start working.

Ill try to film it too when it happens im starting to thinking about wrapimg door handles :D

I always experience this behaviour everytime I visit any shopping centre or frequented parking lot. First the virtual pedal and boot lid opening button stops, then all the door. Car can only be opened by FOB key...

At home it works perfectly at always, independently from fog, ice, snow etc..

It seems the car identifies the other car opening-closings as a hacking attack and disables some function...

Thank you fro the cleaning suggestion! That did the trick. I knew my car was a bit dirty but didn't think it would affect the door handle operation :)

I also experienced this more than once at the shopping mall parking lots (expecially with the virtual pedal where it's most needed :) ). It makes sense that it's disabling itself. It's good to know that it's not another software bug.

Speaking of bugs, how succesful are your cars about auto locking when you walk away? I learned not to trust it since it's pretty unreliable. Therefore useless.

I never tried that function. I had no trust from the begining. Also there are some suspicion, that this function responsible for critical 12V battery drains.

I think so the kessy issue is a software bug, maybe will be better within some months (Passats having the same issue).

I have to correct myself. My car gets really dirty. The Kessy opening function stops for several days. The closing worked at always. It came back to normal inmediately after the carwash...🙄

So the Kessy stops in public parkings, or when it gets dirty or anytime when it would be usefull...
