Hello, my English is not the best, so I would like to apologize for any fails and any difficulty in understanding.

I currently have in my octavia 3 vrs 2014 radio mib1 - 5E003574A with tiny little screen and looking forward for upgrade. My car has a Canton audio and I heard that it somehow matters when swapping radio and screen.
I have found a set or radio and screen for sale pretty fairly priced from Octavia facelifted version named 5E0919605M + 5Q0035864C.

Is there any chance to swap those two to my car?

If so, can this set run carplay?

If not, are there any alternatives to go for that can run carplay?

thank you for responses

You need to speak with @pab567 who can fix you up with a newer MIB2 system.

Yes, but 5Q0035864C has no DAB/DAB+ receiver, to keep DAB you need 5Q0035874C or 565035864.

Yes, it can run CarPlay if new unit is patched (hacked). You also need to replace USB with 5Q0035726E or 5Q0035726J.

You will have to change CANTON sound amplifier and remove Component Protection from new amplifier by SKODA dealer or someone having ODIS ONLINE account for SKODA.

Oh right. All I’ve done is replace the glove box and head unit and usb port too.

Does 5Q0035842C support dab do you know?

Yes, but it can't be patched via SD, it requires unit to be open and soldered in order to change some files in EMMC.

Sorry to jump on this thread. Recently inherited a samsung s22.from my son and it's so unstable with Android auto. Constant disconnects. My previous s21 worked great.

Can someone advise the best way to update my firmware on my infotainment. I have attached a picture of my firmware etc.

Kind regards

Sorry for pulling old post, i have octavia 2014 model. I m new to here, would be kindly let me know if i would like to upgrade to mib2 or mib2.5 what are the things i need to change. Possibly with parts number that are required? I just want to have carplay preferring wireless but wired is also fine. Making sure everything else works. Thanks.

None of the OE infotainment systems for the Octavia 3 support wireless CarPlay, you have to use a USB to wireless adapter once wired CarPlay is working.

Do you have Canton? If you do then as well as the glovebox unit, screen and USB socket you'll have to replace the Canton amp.

@pab567is the guru for part numbers.

Im not sure if i have canton or other, i can share VIN

Hi, I'm interested in putting a bigger display on my 2016 Octavia, currently MIB2, Columbus. Is it possible?

So now you have Bolero MIB1, with Bluetooth, without DAB, part number 5E0035840A, with Media In port and fortunately you don't have CANTON sound system.

You can install one of four different OEM glove box units:

- MIB2 Bolero
- MIB2 Amundsen
- MIB2 Columbus
- MIB2.5 Columbus

You also need to replace display unit:

- for MIB2 Bolero you can use either 6.5" model number 5E0919605H or 8" model number 5E0919605N
- for MIB2 Amundsen and MIB2 Columbus you can use listed above display as well as 6.5" model number 5E0919605J, 8" model number 5E0919606, 8" model number 5E0919605M
- for MIB2.5 Columbus the only display unit that works is 5E0919606D

You also have to replace Media In port with USB.

The question is what is your budget and which of listed below features are "must have":
- Video playback from DVD, USB, SD
- CD playback
- OEM navigation
- displaying OEM maps in Virtual Cluster (Active Info Display).

All units support SmartLink (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink), rear view camera, voice command. features that differ them:
- MIB2 Bolero - no OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB
- MIB2 Amundsen - OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)
- MIB2 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, no support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)
- MIB2.5 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

This is not Columbus but Bolero. You can use 8" face-lifted display 5E0919605N.

Thank you very much for your reply. I dont want to invest so much money. I will go for only oem navigation, nothing else needed since all of them support smartlink.

All MIB2 units I listed support SmartLink

@pab567 i have found a 5E0919605M to replace my Bolero, will this work?

5E0919605M is just a dsiplay, it will NOT work without glove box unit
