Dash cam?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

just needed some information if possible please. I recently tried to hardwire a dash cam into my Octavia. I used fuse number 40 which is the 12v outlet for my red wire (constant fuse) and tried fitting the yellow to fuse number 25 which is central locking (ignition switch). I need the dash cam to run 24/7. However upon doing so, for some reason the yellow wire is always showing live even when the car is turned off. So i tried a number of different ones which run on ignition and the dash cam wouldn’t work. The only one it worked on was an empty fuse which was 4x4 even though the car is FWD. Upon doing so, the car kept throwing up parking sensor issue whenever I started the vehicle and then went off. But it drained my battery completely and I had to jumpstart my vehicle. Does anyone know what fuse I could use please as all of them are showing live with 12v even when the car is off. It doesn’t make any sense. Could someone direct me please if they’ve managed to figure a solution to this problem if they did have this problem.

thank you in advance

Hi

Not sure if you’ve sorted this but I wired my dash am into the rear wiper fuse. Seems to work fine.

I wired mine to the same fuse with a fuse tap, then ran a aux power socket lead to it. I have the power socket in the knee high drop down cubby.
