Need a TFT screen

Featured Replies

Preferably 17" - My compu desk needs to gl flush back with my wall, but at the moment my CRT hangs off the back of it as I like decent distance between me and the screen. :)

Any good value ones out there? Tempted to go 2nd hand if anyone's wanting to upgrade? Seen some ads for 19" ones for around

For once I'm not going to look on there. It seems TFT screens go for quite over inflated prices second hand and new. :(

So, I'd sooner pay RRP for a new one but not sure on the best stores, etc. Might be worth me dropping by PC World on my way home to get ideas.

Staples :D

Staples :D

 Not exactly sure my stapler has the ability to show what my PC is trying to visually put out, but I'll have a go. ;)

Damn, where's my nearest branch? :o

I have a 19" Zerox, no plastic surround, just Glass with a black edge

e-buyer video 7 ones are quite good I know a few people who between them own 4 I think and nothing bad said about them.

Personally I'm a fany of iiyama and ViewSonic.

http://www.aria.co.uk - I've bought two normal ones 17" VA702 (ViewSonic) and a widescreen 20" one VA2012w (ditto) from them.

Very nice screens, decent price esp. for the 17" screens. Also you can buy an LCD swivel/tilt/rotate bracket for it that screws onto the back of the LCD screen (and your wall) as required.

Splash out on a Dell 20" widescreen one.

They are ooooooh so nice.

Just got another 24" wide dell one.... thats 2 now :D

If you really want the best TFT's at good prices, I cannot reccomend Viewsonic enough, www.viewsonic.com

I have allways had them and won't consider anything else and I currently have 2 of their TFT's (one is 4 years old) and I have several of their CRT's too. None have ever skipped a beat. I also Installed 10 at the last company I worked for, Not a single dead pixel on one of them.

I do NOT want a 24 incher OK? Ok, I do! But my wallet does NOT! :P

Shall take a loo around, thanks for pointers chaps.

Just buy a laptop Jason, they are cheap enough

Go to E-Buyer had 2 from them very reasonable priced and a 3 year g/tee not a pixal missing

Viewsonic va1912w here, recommend it.

Got it off Page Computer in the US just before I came home.

Viewsonic do standard aspect ratio screens (4:3) in 17" and 19" also, much cheaper than the widescreen one I purchased.

Had a Viewsonic CRT before that, no problems with it at all, part of the reason I stayed loyal to that brand.

The 20" widescreen one in my preceeding post is probably one of the best affordable 20" screens on the market right now, 19" is still the sweetspot for widescreen, 17" for standard ratio.

I've got a twin-17" setup hanging of a matrox twinview which hangs of my laptop.

Sitting reading this on my new Acer 19" LCD screen - very good quality picture and a 3 year warranty. Looks pretty good too. Bought it to replace my 21" CRT (real size 19.5") that was suffering from glare from the bright sunlight. LCD is much better
