Fabia vRS competing on the Jim Clark

Featured Replies

First time ive ever seen one in a rally before. On the Thursday Shakedown the car seem to be running ok, belching out enormous amounts of black smoke as it went. But for the rest of the rally i only saw it pottering around the stages with its hazard lights on :-(

Good colour scheme... and good spot

It finished second to last just in front of Rob Gills scooby

Second from last is better than last!........I think!

To be honest it's a bit of a stupid car to enter in a rally whci probably accounts for why you hardly ever see one.

Becasue of the engine size it ends up in the same class as and evo and imprezza against which its front wheel drive has no chance.

As for it finishing second to last - at least it finshed as plenty of other top end machinary didn't.

Same class? My bottom :haha:

It will come in the 1.4 class as diesel has a negative equivalency rather than the petrol turbos positive one.

Unless they've changed the rules this year, in which case I'm a **** :D

It in the same class as and evo and imprezza against which their Four wheel drive has no chance.

Oh dont say that it will go to all them furbie drivers head!!! :P

You would have thought though it would be in a different class?

From last year's Blue Book;

Petrol equivalency for turbos is 1.4

Diesel equivalency for turbos is 0.7

If the car was running ok for the whole event i think it would have been pretty fast, at shakedown it was running quick although it was hard to tell as it was so quiet compared its competition. But seeing as it wasnt going faster then about 50 for over half of the event it didnt do itself justice. It lost over a minute on every stage i saw it on.

Now for another VAG car, anyone see the Audi S3 that was competing in the National event. The ex Audi TT DTM engine it had in it sounded sweet!

Why hasnt it got a vRS rear bumper??

It needs a rear ARB!

Why hasnt it got a vRS rear bumper??

a normal furbie bumper is probably a lot cheaper after the VRS bumper has been ripped off for the 4th time

Theres a couple of Fabia vRSs in the German Championship but I think they have a diesel class over there.

One also ran on rally Corsica this year and did reasonably well.

I didn't think it was a VRS? dont remember it being one anyhow

but then again...looking at the amount of smoke it's kicking out, it has to b a diesel

Was a vrs - says so according to the result and also according to it's class as above.

and the vrs badge on the grill is good enough for me!

Anyone seen how far back the engine is sitting in the A3, enough room to stand in there.

Was inspecting the fabia when it was round the back of kelso race course very early on the sunday morning i.e 6 ish. I think people were looking to see if I was going to steal it, but just havin a butchers. They made a good job of dash and rollcage anyway.

Just a quick report on the vrs in the jim clark from the team.

4 miles into 1st stage lost turbo pressure, pipe had come off, fixed it for 2nd ss & happed again, thought we got it sorted in first service only for it to happen again, first 6 stages all driven without turbo. End of day service was 45mins, gave us a chance to find the real problem, gearbox mounting broke which meant engine was rocking so much kept pulling turbo pipe off, we got a temp fix and got 3 stages with a turbo before giving more trouble, retired, finished under superrally rules.

They didn't have much luck then :(

Yeah, and they still beat a Pretzle!

Another VRS on the Ulster rally, driven by NI Dealer, John Mulholland
