Hmmm. That does not sound very convincing. I wonder what the issue with sparks is?

The issue is observed when the spark change happen on 60k kilometers.

That's why, they recommend to be in every 2 years or 30k km. That is from last year. Basically, the maintenance interval is decreased twice.

I just shared what they told me.

Didn't point in any direction.

What am doing in every petrol Skoda with DSG that I had.

DSG maintenance, sparks, brake fluid, Haldex maintenance on every 30k km or 4 years.

Engine oil every 6-10k km with all filters.

So far, no issues with any Skoda that I had with that maintenance.

Will keep doing the same with the existing Superb 4.

  • Yeah, indeed. Octavia is a budget car for the fleet's in some companies. Let's say, for middle level management. Superb is totally different car. I had in the past Superb 2 2.0TDI 170p.s man

  • Until now, I have driven 10,000 km without any issues, except for the DCC noise. I haven’t had any problems with the particulate filter, nor have I seen anyone else experience this issue.

@DasSkoda  Where are you getting all this duff information?

Anything in writing?

Bulgaria counts as a Dust Free Country does not?   Or not 'Dust Rich.'

Haldex is every 30,000 miles / 3 years.

Engine oil every 9,400 miles / 372 days is pretty much FIXED Servicing according to VW Group, Flexible / variable is 24 months, 18,000-20,000 miles.

Spark Plugs at 40,000 miles

& Super Unleaded Petrol used is not going to reduce the recommended service schedule on them.

This Air Filter change is ridiculous, check at every service.

The Cam Belt and DSG interval is wrong for many DSG,s.

Yes, we are in Dust reach region.

But, the dealership did not pay attention on that. They recommend:

Engine oil and filter on every 2 years or 30k km. Cabine and engine air filter on the same interval.

DSG maintenance over DQ380/1 on every 60-120k km with only oil change.

Haldex on every  4 years or 60k km.

The interesting thing is:

Octavia 2018,with DSG DQ 380, maintenance as oil and filter is on every 60k km or 4 years.

Octavia 2019, with DSG DQ 380, maintenance is only oil change on every 120k km.

What changed? Engine and transmission are the same. Just one year difference.

Duuno why VW claimed that.

OK.   The DQ381 needs the filter changed.

The DQ380,s were in Chinese built cars and not in Europe.

For many 20,000 miles / 2 years is enough for the Haldex.

I would take anything they or say with a pinch of salt considering the rubbish about 95 octane petrol & using Super Unleaded.

Correct it's DQ381, not DQ380.

For the rest, am agreed. That's why will mix 95 and 100 ron. Just to be in the middle. At least, the car has 5 years and 150k km warranty :)

From what i can see ,the engine is with Direct injection and Multi-port manifold injection.

Does that mean, it's with the 8 nozzles, like the first generation of 2.0 tsi 280 p.s from 2016?

Is there any way to switch off the alarm for the seat belt located on the rear seat, when someone is there?

It's a bit annoying to have it.

  • 1 month later...

What are your impressions from the engine up to now?

I was wondering if there is a maintenance period for changing the fluid in the differencial at the back. At the front is the differencial in the body of the gearbox (and use the same fluid as the gear box)?

I have some addituonal questions, you (@DasSkoda) may contact me on PM since I'm new here and this option is locked for me.

There's no schedule for changing the rear differential oil but the haldex clutch pack is in the same rear assembly and the fluid for the haldex should be changed at 30k miles or 3 years for UK cars. Most owners also have the pump removed and the gauze cleaned at the same time.

If I understood right - the rear differential uses the same fluid as the haldex?

About the gauze cleaning in my opinion it is mandatory to be done. I have changed the haldex fluid for the first time at 20k km (~12k miles). Keep in mind that I don't drive offroad, aggressive, no drag starts and during this period I have only 10-15 km in snow. So I expected the 4x4 system to be used very rare. The condition of the gauze is visible on the picture:

No the rear diff is in a separate chamber with it's own oil.

There has been instances where people have confused the drain/fill plugs and emptied the rear diff while trying to do a Haldex service. This usually results in a failed rear diff.

I just reach total 2400km in the odometer.

And I replaced the engine oil with 5w30 covering VW 504.00, 507.00, instead of the recommended 0w20 VW 508.00, 509.00.

And big surprise , no oil stick to check the quantity ....

On a first glance, the oils stick from 2.0tsi 280p.s should be the same. Will check in a week.

So far, so good. Now, I can try what can do that car with that engine safety. Will push the acceleration pedal a bit more :)

It’s not bad that you changed the oil, but I don’t understand why you used 5W30 instead of the recommended one. What oil temperatures do you get while driving?

@dasauto you seem to just do any old thing that suits you.

Are you still getting your advice from dodgy sources?

  • Author

@Rigor with the 0w20 - in the town 110-115 degree. With the 5w30 max that I reached is 103. In the highway, they keep the same 101-103 degree, but with the 5w30 when i slow down, the temp goes down, but with 0w20 remains above 100 degree.

@Ootohere why old?
The first from 2016 to 2018 with 2.0 tsi 280p.s - 5w30 or 5w40.

The second generation from 2018 to 2021 with 2.0 tsi 272p.s - 5w30 or 0w30.

The third generation from 2021 to 2024 with 2.0 tsi 280p.s - 0w30.

The fourth generation from 2024with 2.0 tsi 265p.s - 0w20.

What changed?
All of them are identical in terms of mechanics are identical. No visual differences.

The diff comes from the GPF/OPF filter, but nothing to the engine itself.

5w30 is also good for DPF/GPF/OPF filters. IMHO, using 5w30 is the best approach if you want to have your engine in perfect condition.

p.s with my other car, Octavia 3 with 2.0 tsi 190p.s, with recommended engine oil of 0w20, till now, 90k km on the clock am using 5w30 in every second oil change.
The first one with 0w20 in the official dealership, second one in other garage. That was when it was under warranty. Till this day, the engine is in perfect condition.

Believe or not, with 5w30 the situation with oil temperature is the same as I described above. Keep at least 10 degrees below than 0w20.

p.s.1 am using only AmsOil products like additives, engine oil etc.

Believe it or not with 5w 40 FS (VW 502 00) not long life oil in 1.4 TSI Twinchargers the oil ran cooler and the temp dropped quicker than running 5w 30 FS III (long Life) VW504 00 / 507 00.

That how things were and are.

& the coolant was cooled quicker with Water Wetter.

The Engine Running Super Unleaded with more of a detergent package (Sodium) did not suffer the same borewash issues when not running Long life oil with it'd detergents.

Race fuels come without the extra unnecessary detergents not just higher octane.

PS.

?

What is using the different viscosity alternatelly achieving?

The perception is the following:

Manufacture is interested only to have limited or no issues during the warranty.

After that, the need to sell you again, right?

Lower viscosity might be the key to have you engine do not lasting after 5 years or after warranty. Who knows, but I can’t believe 5w30 will damage anything in you engine, especially when from 2 litters you have 270ps with turbo charge and 400 NM of torque.

For me, 0w20 is to cover only emissions, nothing more.
