User setting unavailable on infotainment.

Featured Replies

I bought the online traffic app. It refused to activate so I factory reset the infotainment in order to sign in again fresh. The problem I have now is when I try to sign in on the car I’ll get a message saying ‘unable to get settings’.

I then deleted the car from my garage in the app and rewarded it.

I’m signed in fine on the app, however I can’t reactivate the car and I still can’t sign in on the infotainment.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Do you have all sets of keys with you when in the car, trying to log in?

Yep! Even put new batteries in both.

No idea then man! Have you tried factory resetting the infotainment, see if that works? Sounds like you've gone through the process already on the app, but maybe it's the car with the issue, not talking to the server properly

Does your car have internet connectivity, i.e. does it show a red cross where it should show the globe on the infotainment screen?

If you don't, you can pull a couple of fuses (as per another thread), but I found it easier and quicker to just pull the battery lead for a min or so. This should force it to re-connect to the servers as that may be causing your car to not report in and configure.

Same issue for me, lets me sign in on the app and even create an account in the car but says unable to load settings when trying to sign in on the car.  I do only have 1 key for it though...

Yeah it’s connected and I’ve got it set to track my location.

I’ll try pulling the battery tomorrow.

Any joy?

I am having the same problem. Have registered account on the app, when I add new user and enter my email and password, it shows 'Loading settings....' for a while then 'Sorry, unable to load your settings'. Have tried several times, I have both keys in the car, and the car has internet connectivity. Anyone got any ideas before I call Skoda support?

It might be worth pulling a fuse or two, this tended to kick the early MK4 electric gremlins up the bum: consider taking out fuse 19 (infotainment) for ten minutes

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried this and also a factory reset but still the same. I called Skoda support, they logged a ticket, I replied on email with screenshots, then I got email back saying I need to book an appointment with a Skoda dealer, advise the technical support of the appointment, then they will provide the technician at the dealer with the info they need.... seems a bit excessive? Does anyone know if I will be charged for this? Car is nearly 5 years old, not under Skoda warranty. The main thing I'm trying to fix is getting live traffic updates, does anyone know if becoming the main user is likely to fix it, would I need to pay subscription?

A friend of mine purchased a secondhand MK4 Octavia just over a year ago, one of the early models with electrical oddities (incl like your issue @jimharston23). I think he had to jump through a number of hoops, but he managed to get Skoda to replace the headunit when it was well out of warranty.

The live traffic updates, which I think Skoda calls 'traffication,' is one of the paid for apps (after a free trial). Some folk use other map apps like Google or Waze to traffic updates, but you probably know that already

Hi,

Traffication is different from live traffic updates. The traffic updates come with the maps subscription.

Thanks for comments. Having read a few other articles about this, think I'm going to just plug my phone into a holder and use google maps, as I did on my old car 🙂 I can foresee hassle and cost (subscription) involved getting up-to-date maps and traffic info, even if I get this user issue fixed. Using my phone for navigation I can use the screen for controlling things like the radio, heating/air con etc (which I'd rather not be using a touchscreen for, probably should have bought a late Mk3 instead).

Quick question: what version of infotainment do you have?

My 2020 Octavia shows

Software 1806

Display unit/control panel software: 2088

Navigation database 19.7

When I click show all updates, all types show nothing

Perhaps an update via USB could improve things.

The thread explaining how to do this is pinned at the top of the ‘Octavia’ topics.

I did this two months ago; my Octavia was running 1810. I upgraded to 1941 and then 1985. This resolved many issues, particularly the infotainment system, which was very slow.

I totally agree with the advice to update the infotainment software version. When I bought my PHEV it had software 1806 and problems with logging in and the navigation. These disappeared when I updated the software.

Your maps are dated July 2019. You can download newer maps FOC from the Skoda sit. Free maps are issued 6 monthly. You need the navigation subscription to get monthly map updates and live traffic information.

I have now updated to infotainment version 1985 (as per instructions on other thread) but I still same problem when trying to add my Skoda connect account. Tried factory reset after the 1985 update and still 'Sorry, unable to load your settings'

Sorry I do not know the answer.

Outcome: Dealership said the fix is not quick and this is a chargeable service for a car outside Skoda warranty. I have decided not to spend the money and will manage without the link to Skoda Connect account. I guess this means no live traffic available - will use google maps instead. Disappointing Skoda aren't willing to fix these kind of problems.

Thats a shame, i have the same issue here as well as the SOS popping, a year on. Will maybe update my firmware at some point, but think this is a hardware issue here.
