Just fitted an ABD fmic

Featured Replies

Quite suprised how easy it was, however at the bottom of the intercooler there are 2 holes, and there is a bracket with a hole on the long pipe. I couldnt seem to find any holes on the car for these to bolt to. I presumed that these holes were for different vehicles, as it seems secure enough with just the top 2.

Also went for a drive with vag-com on, and the intake air temp was about 28deg c with the engine at 90deg. Is this about right??. Couldnt really feel any increase in power though.

Dan.

Once remapped after fitting the intercooler.. you should notice a slight difference whilst holding boost. You will really notice though.. on a hot day!

The holes at the bottom, you actually have to drill a hole. Its just to stop the pipe at the bottom rattling.

The FMIC is meant for the Ocatvia only, so the hole on the long pipe, goes over the hole on the other bracket, and you then have to drill a hole and put a bolt through. As I said, its secure enough with just the top 2 bolts, but the bottom is just to stop it rattling.

An uprated intercooler wont give you any more power.

It can however stop you loosing power in warmer weather.

not entirely true... If the original one was allowing excessive inlet temperatures then cooler air from a better one will increase power.

ps, Have you got any pictures of the installation??

:) Was this yours Pimpster?

It was pimpsters, yes.

Having had a FMIC fitted to my Octy with a remap... I would say from my experience you're not going to notice much of change in day to day driving.....higher up the rev range you may notice power doesn't drop off and when the ambient temp is hot....otherwise you'll really need a remap to up the boost to take the lower intake temps into consideration.
