Skoda refuse to service my car!

Featured Replies

Well, this is a first. Took my car in for Service....I said I wanted it serviced slightly early due to some longer journeys I was undertaking. Car is saying that it needs a service in about 1400 miles. Therefore it arrived at the dealers today (for just an oil service...not an extended scope).

They refused to service it....point blank. I'm waiting at the dealer for the next hour to see if they will make an 'exception' for me. It seems that Skoda won't authorise a service if it's done sooner than 9 months....news to me (i.e. VAG making up the rules as they go along).

Shame the service advisor didn't tell me this before I set out on my 80 miles journey to the dealer.

So....stuff the service history. Car has only done 27,800 miles (and it's a MK3, so low mileage). I'll do it myself....f**k the lot of them. So annoyed....I'm planning to keep the car anyway so as long as I have all the paperwork, that's my service schedule and any proof of the car being serviced.

Update: they've made an exception in my case.....service has commenced. Why do Skoda dealers make everything SO DIFFICULT......🤬

Arh...a little light session with ODIS.

Was it a booked appointment, as in a I want you to do this and I will give you my money for doing it. At which point, on arrival they (initially) said no?

WTF - as they say, intelligence has its limits, but stupidity knows no bounds 🙄

Oh yes, it was a booked appointment alright. I even agreed with the service advisor that there might be just over a 1000 miles remaining but still they complained. Now...if I'd been 1000 miles OVER my mileage then all my warranty would have been voided. You cannot win with Skoda dealers.

Expect them to pull the same trick if you have a warranty claim before the next service!!!!

How would that work with a taxi then?

Or is yours a special warranty and they are doing this to prevent covering private hire vehicles etc?

No idea...it's a mystery. Still it's now sorted. I'm not going back to any Skoda dealer anytime soon.

Barnett VW in Dundee refused me the VW Group service offer on my Skoda Fabia vRS, Same as a Polo GTI Twincharger.

It was a £299 service including Spark Plugs.

Skoda Dundee wanted £249 & no spark plugs.

Looked very much some agreement between them and Skoda Specialist Cars Dundee, John Clark Group & nothing to do with the Computer or Service Record.

I asked if they were operating a cartel and would the Service Manager like to talk to Radio Tay who i was about to call or a Journalist from the Dundee Courier or Evening Telegraph.

She went away through to an office and came back and said she could book it in, or if i wanted to leave it there was an available service bay and technician.

She looked up the car and then asked if i wanted a courtesy car or a lift into town, i said i needed an Automatic and she said but your car is not an Automatic,

and i said indeed it was exactly like the Polo GTI,s were, with a DSG.  She said she never knew that.

I got a Golf DSG for a couple of hours and when i came back the car was serviced, printed out record and £279.

My local skoda dealer is around 40 minutes drive for me whereas a VW dealership/service center is about 10 minutes.

Called the VW dealsership to book in for just an oil and filter service and they refused to touch it...crazy

Not done it recently but I had a Seat dealer that was much closer to home than skoda dealer were more than happy to service and indeed change the cam belt on my diesel mk 2 octavia. They were happy to honour the seat fixed price which was a tenner cheaper than skoda at the time as I remember.

They were a family owned dealership at the time.

Are you on some sort of service plan with the dealer, or did you literally book a service you were going to pay them for, and they declined on the grounds they didn't think your car needed it?

Skoda are happy to up-sell customers with crappy add-ons nobody needs when they sell vehicles, so it seems out of character to turn down the chance to up-sell an early service. 🤔

It was the remainder of a Skoda Service Plan. They tried to upsell a sunroof service for £285. Upsell declined.

I'm going to a dealer on Monday to get an issue with mine looked at - only because it could become an issue for warranty/Skoda UK. I don't think it's an issue, but if it is then I'll be suing.

All being well, I won't be visiting another dealer with this car.

They're all useless. I've had a 'master tech' at SEAT tell me in the car that a knocking noise is just due to the age of the car (2018) only to find out a week later there was a fist sized rock lodged in the subframe.

I've had a Skoda service manager tell me the work was done, but when I checked the part (don't ask) I found the same piece of tape I'd left on it before (bearing in mind this was airbag related stuff...). Oh, and the courtesy car was wedged into a space (parallel parked), and once I'd driven the M25 and parked it at home, I noticed there were no plates on it (they were in the boot).

Audi were also quite fun, with a sales manager assuring me that a particular S3 was available for a test drive, before making the 100 miles trip. Once I got there, the car had been sold, and they instead tried to show me an A1 35.

Not to mention of course, that one (SEAT/Skoda/CUPRA dealer) sold me a crash damaged car. The same car that was put to auction and sold for £11,000 at some dealer, with the damage not repaired.

Useless.
