2013 VRS TDI Estate

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Any tips / suggestions on what to check on the above. Going to look at one this weekend with a view to buy.

Obvious thing like service history etc but any inside knowledge on common problems to check for.

Any advice be much appreciated. :)

I suppose a service history is a good starting place (Skoda or otherwise).  Is it a TSI or TDI?

Check the fluids; make sure the oil looks reasonable, the coolant doesn't look too watery or cloudy, the heater matrix works fine.  Take it for a test drive, any excess road noise or micro-corrections, tracking needs to be done.

4x4 models need the HALDEX serviced every 20-30k miles.  DSG gearboxes - need servicing every 40k miles (check for slipage on pickup).

Hope you enjoy your test drive....

As it's a TDI check the mileage and, if necessary, whether the cambelt has been changed - as a 2013 it should have at least been inspected several times.

Consider also your driving pattern, the DPF on a TDI requires some regular longer drives to allow regens to happen - does this fit with your usage?
