idle engine revs

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I bought a superb mk3 2018 2.0 tdi 140kw.

First week I noticed rpm goes to 1000 about 5 seconds after start. Initially I thought dpf filter is clogged but I found out if you will tick off automatic supplementary heater in aircon menu rpm will drop down to 800.

This weekend I made drove to Gatwick and back about 500 miles round journey.

On Monday morning I noticed the car keeps revs at 800 all the time.

During the journey, I had to perform a factory reset of the infotainment because the car was refusing to connect to apple CarPlay after being connected to Android Auto.

Automatic supplementary heater is ticked on but car keeps 800 revs and it is warming up super slow.

At 5 miles journey to work:

First week

outside temp 4 deg.

water at the 3/4 of journey 90deg

oil temp 95 deg

week 2

outside temp 6 deg.

water barely at 90deg when parking at work

oil temp 65 deg

Did I mess up something by factory resetting the car?

I want my car to keep higher revs to warm up fully on the way to work.

Hi,

You didn't tell us how many miles your Mk3 has on the clock.

Has your water pump ever been replaced?

Timing belt kit is still original and water pump is still original.

It’s just doing its thing because of colder temperatures, basically they made it too efficient.

Nothing to worry about
