Strange behaviour

Featured Replies

Hi

Have a 1.4 petrol superb 2018.  I  have an issue with the running of my car which is really intermittent.  I can be driving on the motorway or residential and the car engine almost dies on me.  If I stop, the rev counter is rising and dropping the idle is obviously very erratic and sometimes stalls.  The car will start but can continue to be erratic.  After a few moments the car returns to normal running, all the while with no fault codes coming up.  Also the car at revs will only go to around 4500 rpm before being held back or can't increase the revs.

Yesterday, a fault code came up which cleared on my OBD reader( can't remember code doh) and after 10 minutes the same running problem started again and was the worst yet.

Car started this morning, no problem however there was an emissions smell initially.  Would like to know if anyone's had same issues or any idea what it could be.  I'm thinking EGR but I'm not mechanic.

Many thanks

Welcome.

How many miles has the car done and when was servicing last done, spark plugs replaced or the air filter looked at and replaced if required?

Take the car to a mechanic.

Maybe before going there fill the tank with E5 Super Unleaded 97 or 99 ron petrol if you are running E10 95 ron.

Tesco Momentum, Sainsbury Super, Esso Super will do, no need for Shell V-Power nitro.

Sounds like a fuel starvation issue.

I'd be replacing the fuel filter and filling up with premium fuel and see how that goes.
