Mk4 Octavia vRS Virtual Cockpit Firmware Update Question/Issue/

Featured Replies

My January '22 vRS has recently had the virtual cockpit module firmware updated to resolve an issue with the LED gauges on either side intermittently flickering. Since this being done though I am having issues with the auto dimming/brightness of the cockpit display being dimmer than it was previously to such a degree that when driving on a couple of recent overcast/cloudy days the virtual cockpit and infotainment screens have dimmed down to such a point that they have been hard to see. This was only at around 3pm and the auto lights remained off at all times so that shows that it wasn't overly dull outside. I've also then noticed yesterday that when it was very sunny the display didn't seem as bright as it used to be on sunny days.

Is it possibly something like after the update the module needed telling the car has sunset glass in the rear so that it compensates for the less amount of light inside the car and because this possibly hasn't been done it thinks it's darker outside than it actually is?

Looks to now be sorted. I wasn't aware that there are two different brightness adjustments available through the Infotainment screen. I was aware of the one that only adjusts the Infotainment screen brightness under settings but I wasn't aware of the second setting under vehicle / interior / interior lighting which then adjusts the minimum brightness of the virtual cockpit screen. It looks like the VC module firmware update must have defaulted this setting after the previous owner had adjusted it to make the display brighter.
