Excessive condensation on interior windows

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

I have recently acquired a late 2023 Scala and enjoy the relaxed nature of the car very much.

Unfortunately, my experience has been degraded a little by the car windows being excessively damp inside almost every morning despite being driven for over an hour each day with the AC running.

The car was bought approved-used and does have the remaining 2 year manufacturer warranty. Therefore, the cost of fixing this isn't an issue, but I'd rather not risk being left without a vehicle for weeks if this is normal for the Scala.

However, I'd like to check with fellow owners and those in the know, whether there are known issues with water ingress into the Scala or similar models before I contact the dealer.

Every window is covered by a strong layer of condensation most mornings and this freezes inside on days near or below freezing, and often needs to be wiped again a few minutes into a journey. I haven't noticed any wet carpets or damp spots on the headliner but haven't had the time to thoroughly check when it's at its worst.

All advice welcome

Check the drain holes on the bottom of the doors. The seals can cover them, keeping water in the door.

?

Does the passenger door get open regularly because if not there might be water trapped in there?

Check the spare tyre well for water.

Put a couple of damp traps in the car / boot.

Get the windows open a bit when the  weather dry / sun out.

Thanks @Ootohere

All good points.

Hadn't thought about the passenger doors retaining water until opened. Will see if I can hear any water sloshing around as the doors are opened..

Doors don't appear to be the problem. Drain holes are clear and no sign of them holding water.

Hi, I have a 2024 Scala which has a similar problem. I use a moisture absorbing packet on the dashboard which helps, but it is still a minor problem. I hope this reply helps.

Internal condensation on windows is unavoidable and is caused by high humidity and temperature drop overnight. Packs of desiccant will help to reduce, but not completely eliminate problem.

& yet cars parked in Airport car parks, or car parks, garage forecourts, on streets etc might have condensation inside and might not.

Same location, same weather and having been driven or not.

I have had cars over the years that never needed the glass inside dried out.

The last like that was a 2003 Volvo.

Have a look in the Fabia Mk3 and other forums for more posts and ideas as this subject is covered a few times only recently and more going back.

I often find the windscreen mists up seriously the minute I turn the ignition, particularly on cold days. Nothing seems to make a difference, check leaves blocking the scuttle at the top of the bonnet, make sure the pollen filter isn't soaking wet and door drains are clear
