TPMS?

Featured Replies

I have a Citigo SE from 2015. I recently had cause to use an OBDEleven to check for errors due to an engine issue.  When I scanned for errors I found the engine ones but also unexpectedly found an error in the “Brakes/ABS” section. It turned out to be a low tyre pressure error.

As it happens I had inflated all the tyres a couple of days before as they were all a bit low.  However I never got any kind of TPMS dashboard indication - is there one?  I reset the error anyway.

Pretty sure the TPMS became mandatory before 2015, therefore your vehicle should have it. If all tyre pressures were reasonably equal and within approx. 0.25 - 0.5 bar of each other, indirect TPMS may not flag a warning.

Have you checked the vehicle menus for tyre pressure reset?

Well it had flagged as an error on the module, so it had obviously been picked up. Maybe the bulb behind the tyre pressure warning has gone?  I’ll try to remember to check when I start it next.

FWIW, my Sister's Jazz also gives a single "bong" on start up if it "thinks" a tyre is soft. They're not, according to a BSI pencil gauge.

Normally you do get a sound and a warning light - maybe the error is historic, and the TPMS was reset, but the trace remains in the ECU.

The error could also be the ABS wheel speed sensor playing up - it may be flaky, or had a bad connection now sorted, or it can be the reluctor ring getting a bit clogged.
