I’m a new owner getting to know my car, hopefully someone can help with this.

 

Inside the glove compartment there is a little shelf or ledge at the top, also a half circle cutout to the right of the shelf which looks designed for something to slot into.

Can anyone shed some light on what this is for please?  Struggling to see anything about it in the owners manual.  Thanks, Gordon.

Some of the earlier mk4 Octavias had a cooled glove box, the half circle will be where the dial would have been. Not sure when they phased this out.

The slot is to hold the owners manual. The dealer pointed it out to me when I took delivery.
