Have been searching all dinner time for this and cannot see it - anybody got a how to, to fit the Seat air intake on the Furby vRS. Found all the part numbers but being a numpty with anything like this don't know where I would start.

Basically there is a screw in the flexi bit where you attach it to the airbox, cross-head IIRC. That needs to be unscrewed. Take some care so you don't drop it as it's a royal PITB to get it back out.

Pull the flexi off the front intake part.

Then unclip the front part which takes a bit of doing as those clips are annoying to get out (I used some big flat screwdrivers but there may be better ways )

Fit the larger seat front part in, drop the flexi onto the front part and then route the other side, screw the screw back in & job done.

No pics but as it looks the same as the original stuff (only bigger) that's pretty much it

On Focus's we change it to an ST170 snorkel as it has a larger inlet mouth and larger bore pipe. Just helps the engine breath a bit more easily. Is this right?

Does fitting these new parts make much difference? Why doesn,t Skoda fit them ,?surely making just one inlet would be cheaper for skoda,than making different sizes.I have a small one on my 1.4TDI,if i fitted one of these to my car,what could i expect to gain?

I have a PD100 which has been Upsoluted and I thought that the engine definitely ran smoother with the PD160 intake. I wouldn't say that you can feel any great increase in power though.

They make a "HUGE" difference to the amount of smoke when booting it on a chipped Fabia vRS, and the engine revs easier.

Should have been standard, (along with the Jabba ARB, SEAT Brace) but that would have detracted from the good feeling you get after you do it yourself.

Cheap, easy, fulfilling.

Some rolling road "say" it & after market panel filter increases bhp by 10bhp over stock figures. I'd take it with a pinch of salt to be honest.

Fitted is would seem the car likes to rev abit more, plus some say it's alittle less smokey with it.

there is a little pipe attached to the engine... make sure this doesn't rub the PD160 intake, mine did, and I used a little plastic tie to keep it clear... it was already wearing down!

So how much was that little lot?

£65 in total - £30 for the Pipercross filter and £35 for the Seat parts

The standard stuff is perfectly fine for the car when left standard, in that it's the correct size for fuel economy etc.

Once you drop a tuning box and/or remap on though, you want more air to go in as well as more fuel, to get more of a 'bang'.

As there is more air to be used the smoke is a tad less too.

Pre-remap I fitted the PD160 intake & a green filter. The car revs up to about 4k (not much point, without a remap, but at least it doesn't feel like it's choking above 3500 rpm if you were to be hitting it ) - It also seemed to smooth the torque peak down a little, and feel a tad more responsive during warmer weather.

Certainly no known bad side-effects and absolutely recommended for engine tuning. If it increased bhp on it's own though I'd be very surprised...
