Wet floors

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,
Not English but figured that my lefthand-drive car would function about the same as yours ;)

I've got a problem with my driver side (so the left side) flooring, both front and back carpets are absolutely soaked, not only the floormats but the carpets aswel.
It started at the front but recently the rear also developed the same problem. I know that the rear doorseals on the fabia's are problematic at times but as my floar is soaked from left to right 'evenly' and the problem started in the front
I find it hard to believe that that is the issue. Do any of you experienced a similar problem or know some possible causes (and fixes) for me because the windows fogging up is getting to me :).

The car in question is a Fabia Mk1 Combi 'elegance' from 2005.

Greetings,
A Dutch Skoda driver.

Easy to see which door carrier seals are leaking. After rainfall, or simulated rainfall, just open each door in turn and look at the rubber seal along the bottom of the door opening.

Any that have little puddles sitting on the horizontal part of the seal will have leaking carrier seals.  There may also be witness marks on the paintwork of the door, just below the door card.

This is a right rear doorway on our car, with some water placed where it will appear if there are carrier leaks:

Thanks for your response, we expect rain tonight so I’ll look in the morning. I had a quick look just now and there was no excessive wetness. The sidewall thats also made out of carpet on my car, which is plastic on yours is also completely dry. So cant think that would be the problem. Will still have a better look when its light out though.

Eitherway, thanks for the rapid response :)

Couple of things. Are you losing coolant? it may be a leaking heater matrix. I did have a leak on my folks old mk1. Front passenger and rear passenger carpets RHD car plus carpet wet as it rises under dash. and it was blocked drainage channel under windscreen wipers/scuttle . You can if I remember get to it from the wheel arch as well. Theirs was choked with leaves and gunge plus a couple of old mouse nests.
