Fault code P2279 - Intake Air System Leak

 

I found another thread here that showed a common issue with a hose coming from a little black box near the coolant - follow it and what do you know? Same pipe has a crack in it. 

 

Any idea what part this is?

I would have a go at repairing it with some self amalgamating tape if it was mine.
