Is your memory seat forever broken? READ THIS

Featured Replies

So, there is a very commonly known fault that essentially bricks the memory profiles while leaving all the manual controls alone. This is shown to leave persistent faults for all the axis that failed to norm/standardize, usually the lumbar support up/down and in/out.

Well, as it turns out, i found out that through long coding i can tell the module that lumbar support is not installed and all the related faults will clear. THIS WILL MAKE THE LUMBAR SUPPORT STOP WORKING SO MAKE SURE TO LEAVE IT WHERE YOU WANT IT FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.

I'll make further tries later on to complete standardization/norming on these axes but for now i'm convinced it just ain't happening without a new module

Fiest open vcds, select the seat memory module, enter long coding and accept experimental coding information

Next, skip to byte 18 and 19 and untick "ldw/ldh_motor_installed" for each. Confirm and write the new long code. You should instantly hear a bong from the instrument cluster and you can set new presets by pressing "set", release then press any number. Personalization through kessy matching should also work now20250218_061719.thumb.jpg.0d53397baaba54a3ed456742997294a9.jpg20250218_061726.thumb.jpg.35a23553f7466f22baf08bab2973e87f.jpg

To gain back lumbar support controls, enable both again (and lose memory features)

Hi. I hope you can help me with this.

I did the long coding as suggested here using carscanner. I got 2 bongs. Lovely.

I can select seat adjustment to key in the menu. Lovely.

But it won’t save seat position. I’ve done the all the way forwards, all the way back etc. (and cracked my visor mirror in the process)

Still no joy.

The mirror setting for reversing works.

If I push and hold number 1 the mirror moves to a new position. But the seat doesn’t. So there is some memory stored.

It’s almost as if the set button doesn’t work.

I fear it may need a new module but that’s £220 plus coding! Any other thoughts?

Firmware Update, which Modul you have? Index A dont Support the Firmware Update

Do you get any other faults in the module? Memory works only if completely clear of any faults, even if historical. After that, SET, then 1/2/3 should store position. Mirrors will work even with the seat broken. If neither works you may have other problems

I don’t know. I only have carscanner not vcds and it doesn’t show faults on the set module I don’t think. I’ll have another look. Mirror may have worked previously I just didn’t know to leave the knob on L, but turning off the lumbar support coding worked in allowing some bongs

Yes. There is even cheaper Chinese copy but I’m not sure.

I can live without seat memory. Was hoping it was an easy/cheap fix!

For completeness I’ve undone the coding to reinstate the lumbar support as it didn’t gain anything. Now I know how the reverse mirror adjustment works, that works well now in the current condition too.

One for the long list when funds allow

Yes. But I just meant I was comparing cost vs benefit. I can live without the seat memory function and spend the £250 it would cost to fix it on something else for now. And then get to it when other priorities have been completed.

  • 1 month later...

Random continuation of this thread. I found in carscanner (strangely in the climate menu) the basic setting procedure for drivers seat. So went back to the long coding to remove lumbar control. Two bongs. Then did the basic setting procedure. Two bongs.

Checked and no trouble codes. I was starting to get hopeful that I had got round the problem.

Alas no. Still no memory function. Back to the long list for a new module!
