I'm having some trouble with my infotainment system - I've updated from MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0245T to MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0253T , but anything newer than that and i get an error - "the current software download is too old"

how can i fix that and update it to MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0480T (if thats even possible?), and what do i stand to gain from updating to the newest version?

IIRC 04xx versions require different hardware or some "tricks", maybe @pab567 can confirm/correct me?

Already installed, but I need to buy vcds to unlock GEM

You can also use other tools to enable GEM, e.g. Vag Can Pro, OBD Eleven, VC Tool, ODIS. Maybe you can find someone near you who has one and can enable it for you?

2 things: 1 not sure i have someone local, but ill ask in the local uk group (can i come back to this thread once im sorted on that front? either borrow someones, or just wait and buy one myself)

2 what exactly needs to be done to enable further firmware updates? is it unlocked from the Green Engineering menu, or do i need to enable it externally (obdeleven, vcds etc)?

@pab567 sooo... ive managed to follow a drive.ru link i found somewhere here to update the system to 0480 - didnt end up likiing it and rolled back to 0253 - matches the car a lot better it turns out imo

another question..... how can i activate swap codes on my system? my vcds isnt genuine and gives me an error, is obdeleven the only option?

Good news - you are able to make installation of MIB STD2 Toolbox from SD card, all you need is to tun developer mode on in adaptations, e.g. with VCDS, OBD Eleven, VCTool, VCP or ODIS.

@zlatni71 I don't have such file but you should be able to achieve all with MIB STD2 Toolbox.

@pab567 Yes, i know that, but it's very hard to install MIB STD2 Toolbox on my MIB2 Bolero with one SD card. I have to take unit out from car and use one of hardware methods. This solution with patch is elegant and easy.

Nope, I don;t know any possibility to patch non-navigation unit from SD.

@pab567 This is definitely a pointless situation where I have a device and software without activation that costs much less than a car and was supposed to be free or already activated. It's good so I didn't have to pay extra to have a steering wheel in the car. I am going to find some Chinese multimedia with navigation and everything else, and take this VW garbage out of my car.

Sure, it's your decision, I just don't understand your sarcasm. SmartLink at the beginning was an extra option that required additional payment and it simply seems that the buyer of your car when placing an order with Soda has simply skipped it.
