I have a Skoda Fabia I (6Y2) 1.2 Petrol and it has a problem with the Throttle Body! the question is! If anyone knows, if I change it, I need to take it to the error machine, or if I disconnect the battery cables, I don't need to, just put it in and go, the one that is going to be bought with the same reference is used.

Thanks

What makes you think it needs to be replaced?

When was the car built?

Which 1.2 petrol engine is it? With or without turbo?

The car has this problem, when in motion I press the clutch to change gear it accelerates, I went to the mechanic and he said it was the throttle body, it needed to be changed, a lot of money, it would be easier for me to change it

OK, so non-turbo 1.2 12-valve 3 cylinder.

Have you checked the vacuum pipe which connects the brake servo (booster) to the intake manifold?

These crack at the junctions of the hard plastic sections causing false air to enter the manifold, out of control by the throttle body.

As I mentioned I went to an Auto Mechanic! and he told me it was the Butterfly body, I went to two mechanics, my only doubt is whether after putting another butterfly body I need to use a Scanner, or if disconnecting the car battery will make it normal

OK, well I don't always trust car mechanics, but if you are convinced to try it, you could just fit the replacement one and try it.

Officially you should adapt the engine ECU to the replacement, using VCDS or similar. See Throttle Body Alignment (TBA) - Ross-Tech Wiki. This educates the ECU about the voltages on the position feedback potentiometers within the throttle body at the limits of travel.

I think it will probably work OK without doing this.

Disconnecting the battery will do nothing that taking the key out of the ignition switch doesn't do, as far as the engine ECU is concerned.

Don't be too embarrassed to return for help when/if replacing the throttle body does not resolve the issue.

Like Pete I have my doubts and would not replace it unless it had been proved to be faulty by testing its operation (commanded opening angle and measured angle) using output tests in VCDS or equivalent, if it is faulty it would normally bring up a MIL light and have a fault code.

An air leak is more plausible, again this can be diagnosed by looking at the Lambda sensor output.

Good morning, I changed the Throttle Body for Skoda Fabia I (6Y2) 1.2 (47w | 64KW | 1198cm3 USED Gasoline and the problem remains the same whenever I press the clutch to change gear the revs go up, it accelerates without touching the accelerator, do I have to put the scanner in?

Thank you in advance, I don't know where that is! will be on the cover that covers the Engine

No. It goes from the brake servo (big round black thing on the wall at the back of the engine bay), to the intake manifold just below the throttle body.

You will see it better with the engine top cover removed, I think.

As I said above, they tend to crack at the junctions of the hard plastic sections. Look with your eyes, but also feel with fingertips, because they often crack on the underside.

Stop buying throttle bodies. That isn't the problem, you've already shown that by trying another.

Good thinking, I'm going to a mechanic, I appreciate all the help,

Forgive me for asking a very basic perhaps even condescending question.

I am assuming from the above that you are lifting you right foot off the accelerator pedal when depressing the clutch, is that correct?

I have known people go from automatic transmission to manual who didnt.

He isn't English so he won't understand your condescending remarks!

I'm not English but I understand everything that is described here, don't get confused

about what they were trying to help me with, engine acceleration has nothing to do with the butterfly body but with the clutch because two bombites were placed from then on the car had this defect, I went to complain to the mechanical company and they said it closed
