Unable to open bonnet

Featured Replies

I have just tried to open the bonnet of my Skoda Yeti. Pulling the interior handle does nothing. 🤔 I have disassembled the interior release lever, and when I pull the cable, it springs back; I don't think it has snapped, however, the bonnet is not releasing. 😫 Any ideas on how I can open this bonnet. It is fullyclosed 🤷‍♂️

Try having another person with you.

Get them to bounce the bonnet with their hands as you pull the lever or cable.

Sometimes they just get sticky from a lack of lub.

When the bonnet is open, lub up the release & lock moving parts. WD40 or WD40 silicon spray.

Same problem...tried pushing bonnet at same time as pulling the release..no luck....anyone ever opened bonnet catch from underneath? Is the latch accessible from underneath???

Then next thing is get you fingers under the bonnet lip where it meets the grill.

With a steady lift action, you pull the handle from inside.

It's finally open! The cable had become disconnected from the latch mechanism. Also, someone had botched a crash repair, so I couldn't get between the radiator and the engine block. Luckily, the passenger headlamp had broken top mountings, so I managed to remove the lower part of the bumper and pull it forward, remove the headlight, and then remove the air intake scoop. I was then able to get my hand where the cable should go and, by deconstructing a bucket handle and making it into a pointy rod, locate it in the mechanism and pull the bonnet release open. Now to buy a new radiator, intercooler,l and condenser as they are all twisted and look at getting some replacement headlamps 😢 😭. Bloody bodgers!
