Cost of re-building blown 1.8T after re-chip

Featured Replies

OK, I'm thinking about a re-chip (after all I've had my 4x4 for a week now), so if the worst was to happen, how much, approximately, would it cost to buy and fit a re-con 1.8T? 2 grand? 4 grand?

I'd probably go down the Jabba route, but I won't do anything until I have enough in savings to fall back on in case it does blow......

Cheers

i would suggest you dont back the car off the drive unless you damage a tyre... unless you have the funds to cover them in the bank? they are not covered by warranty either... not sure Jabba/APR/Superchips have had any engines blow after a remap... if thats what you are looking for maybe the Revo product would be more suited... there a quite a few horror stories about their code on VWwortex / Cupranet.

The simple answer..

If you're really worried, don't do it ;)

But it's not going to blow anyway.

It was a simple question.....

Que?

Why do you think the engine will 'blow' after a remap/rechip?

You do know these engines are running around with larger turbo's etc, on otherwise totally standard engine internals, pushing 300+bhp reliably.

200 odd bhp is'nt taxing the engine that hard. Worst case scenario is a turbo failure, which is rare in itself.

Have you heard some horror stories to prompt your question?
